Earlier today, the Seattle Film Critics Society announced their nominations for the best of 2017!  The winners will be announced on December 18th.

The most interesting thing about Seattle’s nominations?  The amount of love that they showed to Blade Runner 2049, an acclaimed film that, with the exception of Roger Deakins’s cinematography, was running the risk of being forgotten during the precursor season.  They also showed some love to Logan and The Disaster Artist, which made me happy.

The San Diego Film Critics Society Name Get Out The Best of 2017!

Hi, everyone!

So, I have to admit that I have a love/hate relationship with the awards season.  There are just so many different groups that give out awards in December.  Trying to keep up with them is such a chore.  I’m about to post all of the latest winners and nominees and it’s probably going to take me more than a few hours to do so.

And yet, at the same time, I absolutely love this stuff.  I love the lists.  I love the speculation.  I love that this is the period of time when we can say, “What if Get Out does end up winning best picture?  What if Patrick Stewart picks up a best supporting actor nomination for Logan?”  This is the storm before the calm of the Oscar nominations.  This is the time when it seems like anything’s possible.

Anyway, I guess I better get started because apparently, over the past few days, a hundred different organizations have announced their picks for the best of 2017.
