Are these the scariest films of all time? Well. I’m not going to say that because horror is subjective and what scares me might not scare you and blah blah blah blah.
So, these might not be the scariest ten films of all time. But then again, they might…
We take a brief break from our current regular scheduled horror programming to bring in the final official trailer for the latest entry in that little space opera called Star Wars.
With just two months left before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story splashes down into theaters everywhere, the film doesn’t seem to be gathering the sort of massive hype and anticipation that last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens had leading up to its release.
Rogue One is still predicted to be the biggest film of the year. Yet, the feeling that permeates each trailer release have been one of guarded anticipation.
This latest and final full trailer oils to remedy that situation.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for a December 16, 2016 release just in time for the holidays.
Here’s the trailer for Fences! Directed by Denzel Washington and based on a highly acclaimed play by August Wilson, Fences is expected to a be a huge Oscar contender. It’s due to be released on Christmas, at the height of Oscar season.
Here’s the trailer for the true crime film, King Cobra! Reportedly, this film features a totally insane performance from James Franco, which is something that I’m always interested in seeing.
I don’t know much about The Autopsy of Jane Doe but there are a few people, with whom I casually interact on twitter, who saw this film at TIFF two weeks ago and they swear it’s the scariest thing that they’ve ever seen.
Take that for what you will. I’ve lost track of how many horror films have been described as being “the scariest thing that has ever been seen.” Go read a few of Stephen King’s reviews and you’ll notice that he apparently thinks everything that has ever been written and/or filmed is “the scariest thing that he’s ever seen.”
Beware of hyperbole, I’m saying!
That said, here’s the trailer and it looks like the movie might be pretty scary…
Here’s some of the trailers that have come out over the past two weeks! Sadly, none of those trailers involve kitties! Meh!
Fifty Shades Darker
They’re back! And this time, Ana’s in charge.
Miss Sloane
The good news is that a flame-haired one, Jessica Chastain, is in this film. The bad new is that the script for this film was on last year’s Black List. The Black List is supposed to be a list of the best unmade scripts in Hollywood so why do Black List films almost always end up sucking?
Nocturnal Animals
I thought this movie had to be about kitties but instead, it’s about Jake Gyllenhall and Amy Adams! But the trailer still looks really good and supposedly this movie is going to win all sorts of Oscars!
Annabelle 2
The scary doll is back!
Christine
This looks like a great role for Rebecca Hall but will probably be too depressing for humans! Meh!
The Bye Bye Man
This could be scary but it’s coming out in January and nothing good comes out in January.
Smurfs: The Lost Village
I ate a smurf once. Meh!
The Eyes of My Mother
This looks scary!
Allied
Some people are saying this movie led to the upcoming divorce of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie! The flame-haired one says she’s Team Jolie all the way. Meh!
Passengers
Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in the same movie!? And it’s from the director of The Imitation Game. Some people say that this is going to be a big Oscar contender! I think it needs more kitties.
I was super excited to see a trailer called Are We Not Cats because I thought it would be about me! But then I watched it and there’s no cats at all in this trailer! Meh!
According to the description on YouTube: “After losing his job, his girlfriend, and his apartment in a single day, a young man attempts to restart his life, but is diverted when he meets a woman who shares his strangest habit; an inclination for eating hair!” Eating hair does not make you a cat! Grooming is not the same as eating, silly humans! Meh!
Here is the trailer! It doesn’t have a U.S. release date yet but the movie opened in Italy on Friday! There’s a lot of good cats in Italy but they’re not allowed in theaters! Meh!
I was really impressed by Jacob Tremblay’s performance in Room and I thought he totally deserved, at the very least, an Oscar nomination. I also found myself wondering if he would ever appear in another film or if he would be one of those child actors who gives one great performance and then pretty much vanishes.
(I have to admit that I was actually kind of worried for him, while watching him have the time of his life at the Oscars earlier this year. Nobody wants to see this talented kid turn into another Jake Lloyd or Haley Joel Osment.)
Well, Jacob Tremblay does have a new film coming out. Shut In appears to be a psychological horror film and, again, it appears that Tremblay is being held prisoner. This time, his captor is played by Naomi Watts.
