Scenes I Love: The “Head Over Heels” Montage from Donnie Darko

This Saturday, while I was live tweeting 2001’s Donnie Darko, I was reminded of how much I enjoy today’s scene that I love.  Not only does this scene introduce us to the film’s ensemble cast but it also makes perfect use of a great song.

  1. Yeah; I always liked Head Over Heels but this scene really recontextualized that song and gave it a new lease on life for me. From what I remember too, it’s a fairly impressive sequence, I believe there’s only one actual cut they had to do that’s very visible toward the end. Otherwise immaculate.
