Arnold Schwarzenegger Will Win An Oscar In 2016…

Okay, probably not.

But still, the former governor of California has been getting some unexpectedly good buzz for his performance in the upcoming film zombie film Maggie.  In a role that reportedly emphasizes honest emotion over crowd-pleasing action, Schwarzenegger plays a small-town farmer whose daughter (Abigail Breslin) has been infected with a zombie virus.  The trailer, which was released today, seems to hint that Maggie is going to be a bit more thoughtful than your average Arnold Schwarzenegger zombie film.

Maggie is scheduled to be released on May 8th and, hopefully, it won’t be too overshadowed by the 2nd weekend of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

San Andreas Once Again Takes Out the Golden State

San Andreas Banner

With all the rocking and rolling and metal headbanging the site has been on of late it’s just appropriate that we  take a quick intermission with a different sort of rocking and rolling.

The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson will take on the Big One and only one will come out victorious.

San Andreas is set for a May 29, 2015 release date.

Daredevil Has No Need For Iron Suits or Magic Hammers

“I accept your conviction. The lone man who thinks he can make a difference.” — Wilson Fisk

Today we saw the release of the official trailer for Netflix and Marvel Television’s first of five series based on characters from the Marvel Universe. Daredevil will be the first out of the gate and it looks to darken things a bit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by bringing to the small screen one of it’s street-level heroes.

Daredevil (aka Matt Murdock) will soon be joined by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in their own web series on Netflix before teaming up for the Defenders series.

Under the guiding hands of showrunner (and Whedon alum) Stephen S. DeKnight, Daredevil will soon be available for bingewatchers everywhere on April 10, 2015.

Trailer #2: Tomorrowland

PCAS

Here’s the latest trailer for Tomorrowland.  I still can’t decide whether I’m excited about seeing this film or not.  The trailer has hints of brilliance but there’s a part of me that’s worried that this is going to turn out to be yet another summer film that’s more concerned with winning the Oscar for visual effects than in telling a particularly memorable story.

This latest trailer feels like it could be for a big budget version of Atlas Shrugged.  Perhaps George Clooney is John Galt?

A Vision of the Avengers: Age of Ultron for the Third Time

AgeofUltron

The third and, hopefully, final trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron was unlocked today after a Twitter event which had millions of people tweeting the hashtag #AvengersAssemble. One has to give it up to the Marvel marketing machine. They know how to get the public clamoring for more when it comes to their films.

All that could be said has been said about this film. Just sit back and enjoy (or critique) one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year.

Trailer: Welcome to New York

PCAS

Director Abel Ferrara’s thinly disguised film about French rapist Dominique Strauss-Kahn is finally getting an American release.  On March 27th, those of us in the states will finally get a chance to see and judge Welcome to New York for ourselves.  Here’s the trailer.

Trailer: Ex Machina

PCASSo, this looks like it might be good.  Ex Machina is the directorial debut of novelist and screenwriter Alex Garland.  Judging from the trailer, it appears to be another film about humans getting too close to a machine.  If nothing else, it has a great cast: Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, and Alicia Vikander.

The film will be released on April 10th.

Trailer: Kill Me Three Times (Red Band)

Once in awhile we come across a little film that we would never have bothered to even check out if not for the reach of the interwebs.

One such film is the Australian black comedy thriller Kill Me Three Times which had a screening at 2014’s Toronto International Film Festival. It stars Simon Pegg (channeling his inner Sean Connery mustache by way of Zardoz), Teresa Palmer and Callan Mulvey.

From the red band trailer it looks to be quite the violent little black comedy that Simon Pegg seems to be quite adept at. Interesting to note that this film will probably introduce the rest of the world to a third Hemsworth brother (they must clone them Down Under or something).
