Behold the Live Action How to Train Your Dragon Teaser!

It’s been almost 15 years since the original How to Train Your Dragon was released. Taking a page out of Disney’s playbook, it looks like Dreamworks’ & Universal Pictures have decided a Live Action version was in order. Whether it was just to keep the story fresh in the minds of audiences, or to refresh the copyrights, here we have it. This was wild surprise on the big screen for me, because at first I thought it was a commercial for a possible theme ride at Universal Studios or something. It wasn’t until Gerard Butler showed up (reprising his role as Stoick the Vast) that it hit me – this is an actual movie. I have mixed feelings about this. With director Dean Deblois returning to the helm, there’s no way they can mess this up. I’ll be there for this. I’m totally sold. Then again, if it’s a shot-for-shot remake like Gus Van Sant’s Psycho or Jon Favreau’s The Lion King, would it still be entertaining? To Universal’s credit, Toothless and the other dragons look pretty good.

Universal/Dreamworks’ How to Train Your Dragon, starring Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Nico Parker (The Last of Us), Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz) and Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2) will be released next year in Cinemas.

The team is back in The Bad Guys 2 Trailer!

It looks like the 2nd greatest heist team (after the Crimson Paw) is back for another go around in The Bad Guys 2! Director Pierre Perifel and the cast have returned and the story finds our newly released & reformed thieves trying to do good. Of course, it doesn’t help that a heist team of admirers have asked The Bad Guys for assistance on a caper. Will the team stay reformed? Will the movie finally use Billie Eillish’s “Bad Guy” in the film, for a change?

We’ll find out when the movie releases next summer.

Here’s The Trailer For Mission Impossible — The Final Reckoning

The previous Mission Impossible film was one of the best movies of 2023 and the upcoming sequel is one of the films that I can’t wait to see in 2025.  I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how the franchise wraps things up.  If nothing else, the Mission Impossible films stand as a reminder of what the Bond films were like before they all got whiny and somber.

Here’s the teaser for Mission Impossible — The Final Reckoning!

Here’s The Trailer For Paddington In Peru

We’ve just devoted a month to horror here at the Shattered Lens.

However, even we will admit that there are good films are not horror films.  For instance, there are the films that have been made about an adorable bear named Paddington.  Paddington’s latest adventure is Paddington in Peru, which features him traveling to …. well, it’s right there in the title.

Here’s the latest trailer for Paddington in Peru!

Here’s The Trailer For Presence

Here’s the trailer for Presence, another horror film that could have taken advantage of the scary season but which is instead being released later next year.  Add to that, this is a Steven Soderbergh film.  When Soderbergh’s good, he’s great.  When he’s bad, he’s painfully self-indulgent.

Lucy Liu is cool, though.

Here’s The Trailer For The Damned

The trailer for The Damned was dropped by Vertical Entertainment yesterday.

No, not the Visconti film!  This is a movie about ghost ships and sea creatures and fear in the arctic.  The trailer makes it look like the perfect film for the Halloween season so it’s kind of a shame that it’s instead being released in January of 2025.

Here’s the trailer:

Here’s The Trailer For A Complete Unknown!

The latest trailer for A Complete Unknown pays tribute to the famous music video that opened the Bob Dylan documentary, Don’t Look Back.

Starring Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan and directed by the usually reliable craftsman, James Mangold, A Complete Unknown is scheduled to be released on Christmas Day and is expected to be pushed for Oscar recognition.  As both a fan of Bob Dylan and a hater of the type of folk musician that Dylan upset by going electric, I’ll be curious to see the film, myself.

Here’s the trailer!

Here’s The Trailer for Spellbound

Here’s the trailer for Netflix’s Spellbound!

No, Netflix did not remake the Alfred Hitchcock classic.  Instead, this is an animated film about a headstrong girl who accidentally turns her parents into monsters and has to figure out how to turn them back.  It’s a good thing that this film is from the director of Shrek, who should know a thing about turning monsters into humans and vice versa.

Here’s the trailer.

Here’s The Trailer For September 5th!

This trailer has been out for a few days but, with all the activity surrounding Horrorthon and Halloween, I’m only getting a chance to watch and share it.

September 5th is a film based on the true story of the murder of 9 Israeli athletes by terrorists at the 1972 Munich Olympics.  It’s a tragic story, one that already served as the basis for Steven Spielberg’s MunichSeptember 5th appears to focus on the coverage of the hostage situation and the ethical question of whether or not terrorist scum should be given free air time.  It’s not a question for which I have an easy answer.  Obviously, covering terrorism can inspire other terrorists.  At the same time, people do need to know what’s going on.  The trailer also mentions (and I hope the film will explore) the fact that the games continued, even with athletes being held hostage and subsequently being murdered by their captors.

The trailer impressed me.  I’m hoping that the film lives up to the trailer.  This is an important story and one that feels very relevant today.

Here’s The Trailer for Lake George, Which Does Not Feature A Giant Crocodile

When I first saw that this trailer was for a film called Lake George, I automatically thought of Lake Placid and assumed that this was another film about a giant crocodile.

Well, it’s not.  Apparently, it’s a film in which Jeremy Renner Shea Whigham plays a criminal who is forced to do one last job.  However, when he falls in love with the woman he was supposed to kill, they go on a road trip instead.

ROAD TRIP!  That sounds like a good idea.

Anyway, here’s the trailer for Lake George.
