Yes, technically, it’s the day before Thanksgiving but really, Thanksgiving has always been a three-day event. On Wednesday, you shop for stuff you need. On Thursday, you realize that you bought too much stuff that you need. And on Friday, you shop for stuff that you want.
So, anyway, since it technically is Thanksgiving today, let’s get things started with this little short film from the Kubrick of Gore, Eli Roth…
I hope Roth goes through with his wish to turn this into a feature-length film. It would and could become one of the all-time great holiday-themed slasher flick.

Wow. Hard to decide what I like most about that one. It goes from strength to strength. Eli, huh? The “Hostel” films are crap, but this…THIS…!
What is that? It’s not a trailer for an actual film?

This is a fake trailer that Roth made for the Tarantino/Rodriguez Grindhouse double feature film. This trailer, along with trailers from Rob Zombie and Edgar Wright, was shown in between the two features. Of the trailers, I actually think that Wright’s is probably the wittiest (little surprise there) but Roth’s has the most genuinely grindhouse feel to it.
There’s been talk that both Roth and Wright would turn their trailers into actual films (like Rodriguez did with Machete) but so far, it’s just been talk.
I think Thanksgiving is the only holiday to have never had an actual slasher film made about it.
(Unless, of course, you count Blood Freak which doesn’t take place during Thanksgiving but does feature a killer turkey hybrid-like thing.)

The most disturbing part of that trailers occurs at that very line. Have no idea what’s going on though part of me imagining the worst.

Yes, the whole human turkey thing is just like …. yeah, best not to think about it since I’ll be eating turkey tomorrow.

See. now. that’s just one more reason I’m glad I’m a vegetarian.

I have to agree with the whole vegetarian thing when it comes to Thanksgiving. Turkey meat — BLEH! 🙂

It’s a year-round thing, for me. And yet I’m fine with zombies eating people. I guess there’s no accounting for taste (so to speak) 🙂
