Adam In Chains was the third single to be released from Billy Idol’s controversial Cyberpunk album. Billy Idol predicted the future with Cyberpunk, though no one appreciated it at the time. In interviews, Idol said he was inspired by the work of William Gibson while also admitting he had never read anything written by Gibson.
The video was directed by Julien Temple, who is best-known for his work with the Sex Pistols.
Deep Purple — yes, the Deep Purple — has a new album coming out and this is the first single and video off of it. You have to to have respect for these guys. They’ve still got what it takes, even after all these years.

Shaq, rap superstar! It’s a thing that happened. Briefly.
While Shaq’s rap career didn’t exactly set the world on fire and his attempts at film stardom didn’t go much better, he was fortunate enough to have another career to fall back on.
At least now you know what Shaq and the General are listening to while they’re driving around the country and telling people about car insurance.

Since today is John Glen’s birthday, it only seems appropriate that today’s song of the day should be one of my favorite James Bond themes. From the underrated Octopussy, here’s one of the few songs that I can sing (though I don’t sound anywhere near as good as Rita Coolidge), All Time High!
As with most AC/DC videos, this music video is admirably straight forward. The band comes out and rocks and shows that they don’t need to do anything else to keep people watching.

Happy birthday, Sofia Coppola!
Today’s music video of the day is the first music video to have been directed by Sofia Coppola. In fact, this may be her first directorial credit. While the song itself is a bit generic, the video is pure Sofia Coppola. Watching it, it’s hard not to see the same vision that, a few years later, would give us The Virgin Suicides, Somewhere, and The Bling Ring. This video was filmed at the Coppola vineyard in Rutherford, California.
Interesting to note that the film’s editor was Spike Jonze, who would later marry Coppola in 1999 (they would get divorced in 2003) and who is thought to have been the inspiration for Giovanni Ribisi’s character in Lost In Translation.

Take My Breath Away was written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock after the producers of Top Gun realized that they needed a romantic scene between Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis and that they would need something other than Danger Zone to play during it.
The song was originally offered to The Motels but it was eventually recorded by Berlin. Like most of the soundtrack-related music videos of the 80s, the video for Take My Breath Away is a mix of clips from the film and clips of the band performing.
