  2. LOL, beat me to it. So, will just include my thoughts on the trailer here… 😀

“When Sony rebooted their Spider-Man film franchise it was thought by many to be a cynical attempt to retain their hold on the film license. Marvel, before it became the film studio juggernaut it has become, had sold the film rights to Spider-Man and all related storylines and characters. Once Sony began making the films and succeeded financially in making them they were bound to continue to develop and produce them within a specific period of time or the rights revert back to Marvel.

That rush to get a new Spider-Man film onto the big-screen after the commercially successful but critically-panned third film is what led to the reboot with Marc Webb taking over for Sam Raimi and Andrew Garfield now taking on the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The first film was a fun film, but once again rehashed Spider-Man’s origin story with a little new wrinkle involving Peter Parker’s parents.

The first film did quite well that Sony saw the franchise rights staying within their grasp as a sequel was quickly greenlit. Now, the company saw just how successful Marvel was in creating a shared and interconnected cinematic universe which culminated in the biggest film of 2012: Marvel’s The Avengers. So, not to be left out of the interconnected storyline party, Sony has decided that maybe it’s time to just introduce every classic villain Spider-Man ever fought in one film (a bit of a hyperbole since they only introduce 4) and that’s what we get with The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The official trailer below shows not just Spider-Man fighting Jamie Foxx’s Electro, but what looks like a mechanical Rhino and a new Goblin (most likely Hobgoblin instead of Green Goblin). In the background during the trailer one could see the suits for what could be the Vulture and Doctor Octopus. Now, they just need to either have Green Goblin show up or Kraven to cameo and we have the long-rumored Sinister Six enemy team-up that Sony has been talking about.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for a May 2, 2014 release date.”

  3. I still haven’t seen the previous one. Honestly, they should’ve just stuck with the original trilogy. In fact, the whole superhero thing went into overkill a long time ago.

Then again, at least it’s not Rubber Cop.
