  1. Anyone else with me in thinking that the most inriguing, and probably hardest-fought, races this year will be in the Best Animated Feature category? While I’m hopeful that “Frankenweenie,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” or, best of all, “Pirates : Band Of Misfits” might win, in the end I think Pixar still has enough muscle to put “Brave” over the top despite it (relatively speaking) under-performing a bit at the box office.

    • I’m rooting for Brave but I could honestly see any of the five nominees winning. The Academy, which so often fails when it comes to selecting best picture nominees, has a pretty good track record when it comes to nominating animated films that actually deserve to be nominated. I was really happy to see Pirates nominated. I missed that movie when it was in theaters but I recently saw it on Starz and I really enjoyed it.

  2. The Oscar nominees have been announced–let the braindead articles begin!

    Submitted for your disapproval:

If you can get through it without feeling nauseous, perhaps your stomach is strong enough to become a taste tester for whatever horrid new “energy rush” soft drink those evil fiends on Madison Avenue are trying to put on the market this year.
