6 Trailers For 6 Films That 6 People Might Watch in 2015!

So, I should start out by explaining that this is not the latest entry in my soon-to-be-revived series, Lisa Marie’s Favorite Grindhouse and Exploitation Film Trailers.  Instead, these are 6 trailers for 6 films that you will have a chance to see in 2015!

Seriously, it’s always good to start a new year with something to look forward to, right?

1) 71

This one look intense, no?  Jack O’Connell plays a British soldier who, during the British occupation of Northern Ireland, finds himself lost behind enemy lines in Belfast.  Jack O’Connell is a rising star and the film won best director at the British Independent Film Awards.

2) Veronika Decides to Die

This was actually filmed in 2008, premiered in Brazil in 2009, played in Germany in 2010, and, seven years later, it’s finally getting a U.S. release.  It’ll premiere in theaters and on VOD on January 20th and then, in March, it’ll be released on DVD.  That would seem to indicate that First Look International, the film’s distributor, doesn’t have much faith in it.  But you know what?  Some of the best films ever made were distributed by people who had no faith.  This could be a challenging, edgy film.  Or it could be crap.

We’ll find out!

3) A Little Chaos

This historical drama stars Kate Winslet and it was directed by Alan Rickman!  The trailer looks gorgeous.  I majored in art history so I have to admit that I will always have a weakness for films like this.

4) Woman in Gold

Will Ryan Reynolds ever star in another good film?  That’s a question that I often find myself pondering.  Reynolds is the type of talented actor who deserves more than co-starring in R.I.P.D. and showing up in a cameo in A Million Ways to Die In The West (BLEH!).

While Woman in Gold does not look to be the type of film that’s going to help re-establish Reynolds as being a rising star, it does look like a film that will give him a chance to remind people that he actually can act.  Undoubtedly, it’ll help that he will be co-starring with Helen Mirren.  Woman in Gold is scheduled to be released on April 3rd.

5) Wild Card

It’s not January unless Jason Statham is killing someone.  2015’s Jason Statham film will be Wild Card.  It’ll be released on January 30th.

6) Blackhat

And finally, we have Blackhat.  It’s scheduled to be released on January 16th.  It’s directed by Michael Mann and stars the official sexiest man alive, Chris Hemsworth.  Apparently, Hemsworth will be helping to capture whoever it was who hacked Sony.

Trailer: The Boy Next Door

So, January is coming up and as a film lover, you already know what that means.  Along with at least one movie featuring Liam Neeson killing people, we’re all going to get a slew of really bad films that the studios and stars are hoping no one will notice.

That said, sometimes a January film can prove to be good, trashy fun.  That’s certainly what I’m hoping will be the case with The Boy Next Door.  I have to admit that I was not even aware that there was an upcoming movie called The Boy Next Door until earlier tonight.  My sister Megan and I spent four hours watching Lifetime and, every 15 minutes or so, they showed a commercial for The Boy Next Door.

As for the movie itself, it would appear to have a few things to recommend it.  First off, the great Kristin Chenoweth appears to be playing Jennifer Lopez’s undoubtedly sassy best friend.  Secondly, it looks like there will be at least a few minutes of soft-focus, saxophone-themed sex and that’s always a good sign for those of us who like our January films to be just a little bit over-the-top and ludicrous.  Finally, the entire trailer reminded me of the trailer for another trashy film that I happen to have really enjoyed, The House At The End of the Street.*

On the negative side — well, it’s coming out in January.  You know what else came out in January?  Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.  Consider that.

Anyway, here’s the trailer for The Boy Next Door!

* a.k.a. The Cleavage At The End of The Street, as my friend Evelyn renamed it.

Seriously? They made a movie out of that crap? Here’s the trailer for Entourage!

Remember that show Entourage?

Really?  Seriously, you do?

To be honest, I had totally forgotten about Entourage, largely because I only watched it to hear the song that played over the opening credits.  Then occasionally, I would watch the show that followed the credits and I always thought Kevin Connolly was cute and Kevin Dillon was funny.  Jeremy Piven got on my last nerve and Adrian Grenier was never exactly believable as “the best actor of his generation.”  (I never had an opinion on Turtle, one way or the other.)  I did, however, always enjoy it whenever Seth Green would show up.

Anyway, eventually I downloaded the song from the opening credits (Superhero by Jane’s Addiction, to be exact) and, considering just how misogynistic Entourage could be, I never really had a reason to watch Entourage ever again.

But then I saw the trailer for the upcoming Entourage movie and I said to myself, “Really?  They made a movie out of that crap?”

Actually, the trailer doesn’t look that bad.  In fact, it starts out pretty well.  Unfortunately, that part at the beginning turns out to be a film within the film and that’s probably never a good sign when the film within the film looks better than the film itself.

Anyway, after the film-within-a-film opening, we’re then subjected to what we might expect from a slightly above average episode of Entourage.  (For example, we get to watch Jeremy Piven punch a picture because there’s nothing more appealing than the idea of spending two hours watching an asshole with rage issues.)  Sadly, Kevin Connolly gets to do next to nothing in this trailer and Seth Green is nowhere to be found.

The film will come out sometime next year.  Watch the trailer below.

Trailer: True Story

Originally, we thought True Story was going to be released in December of 2014 so that it could possibly score Oscar nods for both Jonah Hill and my beloved James Franco.  However, the release was subsequently moved back to April of 2015.

Often times, it’s not a good sign when a release date is moved back but I still have high hopes for True Story.  The film’s plot — its true story — is a fascinating one.  Plus, it’s Jonah Hill and James Franco!

Did I mention I love James Franco?

Here’s a Really Scary Trailer For The Walk!

So right now, we’re in the middle of Oscar season and everyone’s wondering what will be nominated for best film of 2014?

What better time, then, to take a look at a trailer for a film that might be promoted for best film of 2015?  The Walk is directed by Robert Zemeckis and it features Joseph Gordon-Levitt up way high in the sky.

I’m terrified of heights so I have to admit that this trailer totally freaks me out.  However, I’ll still probably see the movie because it’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt after all.

It’s scheduled to come out in October of 2015, shortly before the start of Oscar season.

Trailer: American Sniper (2nd Official)

American Sniper

Talking to empty chairs aside, Clint Eastwood still goes down as one of the greatest living American filmmakers. This doesn’t dismiss the current slump he has been in the past couple years (Jersey Boys, Hereafter, J. Edgar just to name a few). This 2014 holiday season he’s set to release his latest film: American Sniper.

The film is an adaptation of the best-selling autobiography of the same name by former Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle. Steven Spielberg was initially attached to direct the film, but bowed soon after. In comes Clint Eastwood to take up the director’s chair with Bradley Cooper starring as Chris Kyle (also producer on the film).

The film has already made it’s premiere at the AFI Fest with a limited release on Christmas Day 2014.

American Sniper will  have a general release date of January 16, 2015.

Mad Max: Fury Road Official Teaser Trailer

What a lovely day, indeed.

At this year’s Hall H over at Comc-Con this past summer a trailer was shown that figuratively blew off the roof at the convention. It was the trailer for all the upcoming films for 2015 and beyond that everyone ended up geeking up over. It wasn’t the sizzle reel for the upcoming Age of Ultron (though it seems that was a close second). It wasn’t the brief tease of Batman v. Superman (though from people I know who went the teaser went a long way in removing doubts about the film).

No, the film the trailer was all about was George Miller’s return to his post-apocalyptic world inhabited by one of the original badasses of the 1980’s: Max Rockatansky aka Mad Max.

Yes, we are going to have sandwiched between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Star Wars: The Force Awakens a new Mad Max film (4th in the series) with Tom Hardy in the title role. The title to this latest entry in the series will be Mad Max: Fury Road.

The Comic-Con teaser for Fury Road whetted the appetite and this latest teaser trailer released by Warner Brothers today will just feed the thirst for post-apocalyptic vehicle mayhem.

Mad Max: Fury Road will be set for a May 15, 2015 release.

Terminator: Genisys (Official Trailer)

I’m not sure if the 5th Terminator film is a prequel or a sequel. Time travel and paradoxes and all that jazz sure make it difficult to figure that out.

Now, what we do know is that Terminator: Genisys (whoever came up with that title should be shot) will take things even farther than the first film which is suppose to kickoff a divergent timeline that makes the first four films a moot point.

So, this means that Terminator: Genisys may be both prequel and sequel, but also a reset of the whole franchise. See what I mean about confusing.

Here’s to hoping that screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier have a better handle on all this jumbled time travel and resetting stuff.

Terminator: Genisys is set for July 1, 2015 release date.
