Music Video Of Day: I’ll Kill You That Way by Slashstreet Boys (2018, dir by ????)

Well, there’s no way that I could let October end without sharing this touching video!

I have to admit that, after watching this video, I was all excited and ready to buy tickets for the next time that the Slashstreet Boys came to Dallas but it appears that this killer boy band might just be an elaborate parody.  Which is a shame because if Michael Myers had been allowed to pursue music, he probably wouldn’t have killed as many people as he did.

Or maybe he would have.  Who knows?

Credit for this video goes to The Merkins!

Music Video of the Day: Vampire by Mai Lin (2017, dir by PANAMÆRA)

With Halloween only three days away, how could I resist a song and video about vampires?

I like this video because it has an enjoyably decadent, Eurohorror feel to it.  This seems like one of those films that would be dismissed when first released, just to then be rediscovered by audiences 20 years later.

On a personal note, if I ever become a vampire, I will use this video as my guide for how to behave.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Profondo Rosso by Goblin (1975, dir by ????)

If you’ve ever watched a Dario Argento film, you know how important music is to his art.

After collaborating with Ennio Morricone on his first three films, Argento used an Italian progressive rock band for his 1975 film, Deep Red.  Argento and Goblin turned out to be a perfect match and the band went on to compose and perform the scores of several other Argento films, most famously for Suspiria.

In this clip from 1975, Goblin performs the main theme for Deep Red on an Italian TV show.  (Sorry, I don’t know the name of the show.)

Music Video of the Day: Unmade by Thom Yorke (2018, dir by Ruffmercy)

Today’s music video of the day is for another song from Thom Yorke’s soundtrack to the upcoming Suspiria remake or rehash or reboot or whatever it is.  I’m not really happy about the movie but I do like what I’ve heard of the soundtrack.

Music Video of the Day: This Is Halloween, performed by Broken Peach (2015, dir by ????)

Well, it’s not quite Halloween but it will be Halloween very soon!  To be honest, Halloween starts the weekend before the 31st.  So, happy Halloween!

This song, of course, comes from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.  There’s many different covers that you can find floating around YouTube.  This is one of my favorites.

Music Video of the Day: Halloween Mask by Peach Kelli Pop (2015, dir by Lizzy Walker)

To be honest, I think this song is more about the masks that people wear as a part of everyday life, as opposed to being specifically about Halloween masks.  Just check out the lyrics:

Fashion magazines
Anti-aging creams
Tape measure around your waist
Whitening toothpaste
Behind this mask
Lies an ugly face
An entitled child dressed in lace

Halloween mask
I wear it every day
Halloween mask
Beneath my skin is gray

Fashion magazines
Anti-aging creams
Tape measure around your waist
Whitening toothpaste
Behind this mask
Lies an ugly face
An entitled child dressed in lace

Halloween mask
I wear it every day
Halloween mask
Beneath my skin is gray

Still, even if it’s not really a “horror” video, it’s a good song and I still think that Peach Kelli Pop should be hired to perform the Silver Shamrock jingle next Halloween.

Music Video Of The Day: Halloween All Year by The Orwells (2012, dir by ????)

Halloween All Year sounds like a great idea to me!

Or, at least, it does until you actually pay attention the lyrics of this song, the majority of which involve a knife and a body on the ceiling.  Actually, now that I think about it, I guess part of the appeal of Halloween is that you actually have to wait for it.  You wait for 9 months and then suddenly, it’s the greatest 31 days of the year!

As for the video, I like it because it has a prom gone wrong feel to it.

Music Video of the Day: Dracula by MOANA (2018, dir by Luna Laure)

For today’s music video of the day, we have yet another song called Dracula.  However, as you can tell by looking at the lyrics, this song actually has some connection to everyone’s favorite vampire (or, at the very least, the legend of everyone’s favorite vampire):

Her
She was a dancer
Feel
As the girl she twirls off the edge of her paper-thin world

The “I”
Give to the Master
Mirror, mirror
Can you tell one from the other?
Strange
I offer my veins
Feel
As the girl she twirls off the edge of her paper-thin world

Oh in the night
When Dracula comes to fill your soul
To atone, confess
My one true weakness
My Dracula, Count Dracula

Her
She was a dancer
(First I must appease my thirst)
Feels
Good you know as the girl she twirls off the edge of her world

Oh in the night
When Dracula comes to fill your soul
To atone, confess
My one true weakness
My Dracula, Count Dracula

Oh in the night
When Dracula comes to fill your soul
To atone, confess
My one true weakness
My Dracula, Count Dracula

According to singer Moana Mayatrix, “I’d say it’s not directly about vampires but more so an exploration of vampire mythology and the allure of the dark side, much like being seduced by a Bram Stoker character.”

Music Video of the Day: Dracula by Vondelpark (2012, dir by ????)

It’s debatable whether or not this song from Vondelpark is actually about the Lord of the Vampires but I imagine he’d appreciate it.  Myself, I love the atmospheric, dream-like feel of both the song and the video.  Just listening to this puts me into another world.

Sadly, Vondelpark is no more.  They broke up in 2016.  But Dracula lives forever.

Enjoy!
