I always have such mixed feelings about July.  I hate the heat but I enjoy writing about Big Brother for the Big Brother Blog.  I also love celebrating the 4th of July and this year, there was actually a nice breeze blowing on the 4th.  The 4th brought together two things that I love: family and illegal fireworks.

This week, I started my summer job as a writer over at the Big Brother Blog so, for the next few weeks, it’s going to be a struggle for me to balance my duties over there with my writing over here.  That’s not a complaint, of course.  I love the struggle.  If I didn’t, I wouldn’t still be doing all of this.

Another brutally hot week comes to a close!

I ended up taking a break from twitter this week.  That’s something I do whenever people start to get on my nerves.  On Wednesday, at 5, I announced that I would return in 24 hours and then I stayed away until Friday.  Those 24 hours easily became 48.  And while it may not have made people any more civil, being away from all of that negative crap certainly did me a world of good!

We’re almost halfway through 2018.  I may be alone in this but, with the exception of that month when I was battling the world’s worst allergies, my year’s been pretty good so far.  Let’s hope that trend continues.

In other news, this was another busy week so I didn’t get to do, watch, read, or write as much as I wanted to.  I was going to take some time here to write about the horror of getting stung by a fire ant while running around barefoot on Friday but then I learned that the TSL’s own Patrick Smith got bitten by a (nonvenomous) snake on Saturday and that kind of put everything in perspective.  Oh, and don’t worry, Pat survived!

This week started out poorly but it got better on Tuesday.  That’s when I came across an interesting statistic. Only 21% of American adult have a twitter account.  Why is this important?  Because we tend to assume that the worst people online represent all of humanity when, in all reality, most people aren’t even online.  Once I realized that, this week got a lot better!

Anyway, it’s the holiday weekend!  Erin and I spent it at our uncle’s!  I got to work on my tan.  I got to hang out with family.  It was the perfect way to end a week.

I’m back!

So, I spent most of this week in recovery.  At the start of this month, my allergies literally went insane and, due to a sinus infection, I ended up miserable, cranky, and trapped in the house.  It wouldn’t have been so bad if I could have spent that time writing but I was in such misery that I couldn’t think straight.  Seriously, it was terrible.

However, as I sit here writing this, I am feeling a lot better.  I’m not a 100% recovered and I imagine that this whole month is going to be difficult for me.  That’s just the way it is during pollen season!  But, on the plus side, I can think and write again.  This is good because, after being knocked out for a week, I’ve got a lot to get caught up on!  (When you’re naturally hyperactive, a week of doing nothing feels like a year spent in prison.)
