I love the movie NOTTING HILL. Directed by Roger Michell and written by Richard Curtis, it’s one of my all time favorite romantic comedies. I especially enjoy the close relationships that William Thacker (Hugh Grant) shares with his group of friends. The movie creates a world where these people truly love and care about each other. We all need a group of friends like this.
In honor of the late Roger Michell’s birthday, I share this clip from NOTTING HILL:
I’m a fan of both Rhys Ifans and Hugh Grant, although I liked him better in Two Weeks Notice, Impromptu, and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

I haven’t seen Impromptu, but I definitely enjoy the other films very much. I’m not sure why NOTTING HILL has always resonated so much with me. I think part of it is the idea of the megastar just being a regular person when it comes to love hits home, as well as the familial feeling of Grant’s group. As far as director Roger Michell, I was thinking about it later, and I think my favorite film of his is the 1995 version of PERSUASION. It’s one of my go-to feel good movies.
