For everyone who has been hoping for an Omen/Psycho crossover event…

…there is hope!

A&E, the network who produced Bates Motel, a sorta prequel to Psycho, is now producing Damien, a sorta sequel to the original Omen.  (Apparently, all of the sequels and the remake are being ignored.)  So, I guess would have a cross-over event where Norman Bates met the son of the Devil.

But until that happens, here is the trailer for Damien.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 1 Trailer

FearTWD

“When civilization ends…it ends fast.”

It was just a matter of time before AMC decided to mine their massive hit of a show, The Walking Dead, with spin-off to maximize it’s dominance over the tv landscape. We’ve been getting teasers leading up to San Diego Comic-Con where AMC released the first official trailer for this spin-off series titled Fear The Walking Dead.

This spin-off series will pull back time from the original series and have it set in the very beginning of the zombie outbreak which leads to the fall of civilization by the time Rick awakes from his weeks-long coma. It will also have it’s location as far and different from the backwoods and backroads of Georgia to Virginia where The Walking Dead is set. Instead this new series will have sunny Los Angeles as the setting. What better location than one of the most densely populated areas in the United States to show the first days and weeks of The Walking Dead timeline.

Unlike some who seem to be getting tired of the zombie craze of the past decade or so, I and a few others here at Through the Shattered Lens still enjoy this zombie apocalypse renaissance. Maybe it’s the inner doomsday preppers in some of us here in TSL that makes these types of shows and stories appealing.

Will Fear The Walking Dead succeed just as much as it’s older sibling? We shall find out when it premieres this August 23rd.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Trailer

TheWalkingDeadS6

“Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” — Rick Grimes

AMC has unveiled it’s official trailer for the 6th season of TV’s most popular show (so popular that it even beats Sunday Night Football on occasion) during it’s San Diego Comic-Con panel at Hall H.

Last we left the Grimes crew saw Rick Grimes get the go-ahead from Alexandria Safe-Zone leader Deanna Monroe to shoot wife-batterer and neck-slashing Pete in his face. It would’ve been quite a satisfying event if not for Rick’s first BFF, Morgan Jones, suddenly appearing out of the shadows to see him do the deed. This is the same Morgan who went from crazy clear to zen clear who thought all life that wasn’t undead was precious.

So, now season 6 is almost upon us fellow fans of the show and it looks like Rick is turning out to be Alexandria’s shogun with Deanna as the figurehead leader.

Will Rick’s Shane-like attitude to leading this expanded group of survivors be a blessing or be the downfall of another safe-haven for the Grimes Gang? There’s still the Wolves out there who now knows where they are. There’s also the looming shadow of the comic book’s Negan and his Saviors possibly making their appearance which could mean just one thing: WAR.

So, grab those ribs and thick-cut steaks and take a big bite and enjoy the trailer.

Fear The Walking Dead: The Reports In Four States And Vermont Teaser!

PCAS

Here’s the 2nd promo for AMC’s upcoming Fear the Walking Dead!  This promo still doesn’t feature any walkers and that’s probably for the best.  After all, we already know that this is a show about zombies.  Instead, in this promo, we actually get to listen to people talk.  On the characters claims that there have been reported outbreaks “in five different states!”

(He may be making the mistake of thinking that Vermont is a state.  It happens.)

Personally, I like the enigmatic approach that AMC is taking with the Fear The Walking Dead promos.  If nothing else, both this and the previous promo capture the atmosphere of impending doom that one would associate with a zombie apocalypse.

That will be my TV news round up for this week. Hope to see you all back next week!

Here’s The First Look Promo For Fear The Walking Dead!

This promo for AMC’s upcoming Fear The Walking Dead is entitled Nick’s Escape.  It really doesn’t tell us anything about the show, beyond the fact that there’s a guy named Nick who can run.  It’s too early to say whether or not Nick is hot, largely because he’s running here and he’s too scared to do any hot guy facial expressions.

Still, the music is effective.

Fear The Walking Dead will premiere this August.

TV news you can use

Just my thoughts for PTV you can use.

You all remember what happened in early May, right? All the broadcast networks presented their shiney new shows for advertisers, in something called the ‘upfronts’. They gave us their schedules, what will be airing when….*record scratch* Wait, What? Only four weeks later every thing has changed!

Let’s start with ABC.

At the up fronts, ABC had “Of Kings and Prophets” airing in their 10 pm East/ 9 Central Sunday time-slot-of-death. (Remember 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, The Gates, American Crime, Revenge? Yeah, me neither) But according to TVline, ABC has pulled “Of Kings and Prophets” for a re-cast, which, in my opinion, will mean a never air. (http://tvline.com/2015/06/02/abc-fall-schedule-quantico-sunday-replaces-kings-and-prophets//) Now “Quantico” which has had its own problems will move into the Sunday time-slot-of-death was originally scheduled to be Tuesday at 10 East/ 9 Central

And NBC:

Well, we were all looking forward to Melissa Georges’ heart wrenching “Heartbreakers” (sorry for the pun!) But NBC has decided to move up another Dick Wolf show in “Chicago Med.” (Okay, seriously! I am moving to Chicago and getting me a job in the PD, FD or Med field!) I digress, NBC has replaced “Heartbreakers” with “Chicago Med” on Tuesday nights, either show will get a significance bump from “The Voice” lead in. (http://deadline.com/2015/06/heartbreaker-pushed-melissa-george-pregnant-chicago-med-fall-launch-nbc-1201438347/)

For FOX and CBS, let’s give them credit! So far they have stuck with their schedules. For now…all schedules are subject to change!

In get your streaming news together:

Orange Is The New Black got released a bit early; not like the orange jump suit prisoners in New York! According to Variety and other sources, you can get out of jail early, or at least watch #OITNB early!

Arrested Development! According to HitFlix, (http://netflixlife.com/2015/06/02/report-arrested-development-season-5-to-hit-netflix-in-2016/) new episodes will be released in 2016…I only have one thing to say, Arrested Development!

In casting news:

Heroes: Reborn

Okay, I might be a lot excited about this show! But in fairness to me, I loved Heroes! But in the news, according to TVLine (http://tvline.com/2015/06/10/heroes-reborn-cast-cristine-rose-returning-angela-petrelli/) Cristine Rose will be reprising her role as Angela Petrelli. and I could not be happier.

Now, Daredevil

Yes, yes, YES! Not only will Vincent D’ be back, but according to CNN and other reports, (http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/09/entertainment/punisher-daredevil-walking-dead-jon-bernthal-feat/) Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead
) will join the cast! Ok, I might be a little excited about Shane and his killing prowess!

In Memoriam this week.

I hope I do not have to do this often!

Lisa paid an amazing tribute to one of the all time greats, Christopher Lee this week! So saddened by his passing! (https://unobtainium13.com/2015/06/12/christopher-lee-r-i-p/)

But let’s not forget Ron Moody, can Fagin ever be played again the way Ron did? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWlHquk8si4) His interpretation of Fagin always leaves me breathless! Not what Charles Dickens did, but what Ron did with Fagin! How he transformed a character!

And Ornette Coleman
The only thing I can say about this amazing man is what he said about himself…”I don’t want to get paid, I just want to get heard, that is why I am broke”!

And I will be back next week with another news round up!

ABC Family Stitchers preview

Stitchers

Stitchers photo

Stars:

Emma Ishta (Manhatten Love Story) as Kirsten
Kyle Harris (The Carrie Diaries) as Cameron
Allison Scagliotti (Warehouse 13) as Camille
and Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Eureka) as Maggie

ABC Family has come a long way with their drama series, from “So little time” to “Kyle XY” (which I loved) “Ravenswood, “Twisted” “The Fosters” and arguably their biggest hit “Pretty Little Liars“. The network now offers us a new look into the teen drama with “Stitchers

Following the path of Kirsten, a young woman drafted into a government agency to be ‘stitched’ into the minds of the recently dead to use their memories to solve mysteries that would otherwise gone unsolved. That is the premise. Seems simple, right? Yeah, that is what I thought too.

Now, let’s get things complicated. Kirsten suffers from temporal dysplasia, a condition that can not let her have any perception of time. I don’t know if this leaves her without empathy or that she just doesn’t care, either way it will be interesting to find out.

Kirsten, as a character, leaves me a bit cold, and when your leading character does nothing to add to the show, it is bound to end up bad!

Given that “Stitchers” premieres after the CW’s iZombie and is in the same vein (sorry for the pun), the comparisons are there. For me though, iZombie is the better show. There are enough questions to keep me interested, but for how long?

Quotes:

“I’m to old to do a stint in Gitmo… I’m not”
“Trained monkey? I can work with that.”
“You can harvest the memories of the dead, but this requires a whole new set of skills”

“Stitchers” premiers on ABC Family after “Pretty Little Liars” June 2nd at 9 east.

Here’s the Promo for Fear The Walking Dead!

So, as you probably heard, AMC is doing a spin-off of The Walking Dead.  It’s going to be called Fear the Walking Dead, which is not exactly the greatest title that I’ve ever heard.

(Seriously, Fear the Walking Dead sounds like it should be the title of a low-budget, Asylum-produced mockbuster version of  The Walking Dead...)

But, despite that imperfect title, Fear the Walking Dead is still highly anticipated by Walking Dead fans.  (Is Chris Hardwick going to host Talking Fear?)  Apparently, it’s going to be a prequel, dealing with the early days of the zombie outbreak and maybe it will even offer up some clues as to why it all happened in the first place.  Even better, it’s going to take place in Los Angeles so we won’t have to deal with any dodgy accents.

Here’s the first promo for Fear the Walking Dead.  It aired last night during the Walking Dead‘s season finale.  It really doesn’t tell us much about the show itself but, at the same time, it does have a nicely ominous feel.
