Before I Abandon America For Canada, Here’s 6 Trailers To Remember Me By.

Hi everyone!  Yesterday was election day here in the United States and what can I say other than that I’m taking my cute ass to Canada!  That may sound extreme but earlier this month, I promised that if Hello Kitty and Tuxedo Sam did not win this election, I was heading up north.

And in honor of my future life in the land of Degrassi and Ryan Gosling, here’s another edition of Lisa Marie’s Favorite Grindhouse and Exploitation Film trailers.  And guess what?  This edition is dedicated to Canadian films!

1) Abraxas: Guardian of the Universe (1990)

This is less of a trailer and more of an advertisement designed to entice retailers to keep Abraxas in stock.  But, what’s really important here is that it’s Canadian.

2) Expect No Mercy (1996)

With a title like Expect No Mercy, it has to be good!  Plus, it was made in Canada.

3) Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (2001)

Who needs Abraham Lincoln?

4) The Playgirl Killer (1966)

“The Playgirl Killer … in color!”  I think the Playgirl Killer looks like he might be distantly related to Steve Buscemi.

5) Starship Invasions (1977)

I think this film might involved starships invading something.  It’s hard to tell from the trailer.

6) Rolling Vengeance (1987)

It’s out for revenge!  And it’s … rolling, apparently.

What do you think, Trailer Kitty?

  1. Wow. Those are six really bad films (which is what makes them good, of couirse). I don’t expect any mercy from any of them (“Penal Planet Terrainis 7”) . Maybe it’s because I awakened from a nap (my cat Charlie and I got a bit sleepy, so we tpok a nap in the easy chair), after which I am often punchy, but I laughed out loud at all of these.

    O Canada. Sigh…

For what it’s worth, if Hello Kitty had been on the ballot this time, she would have gotten my vote.

  2. What in the world was Ned Beatty doing in “Rolling Vengeance”? Was he slumming or something?

The previous year, Ned was in a video entitled “Drug Free Kids”, with a cast of Hollywood stars encouraging kids to stay away from drugs (small cast for that one, heh, heh). Then he went on to do a film called “Rolling Vengeance”. Insert your own jokes here.

I think you ought to include “Death Wish V”, because that was very clearly filmed in New York City, Canada.

The worst thing about Obama being re-elected is the rest of the world shall have to put up with him strolling around like he owns the place. It boggles my mind how otherwise supremely intelligent individuals can by into all the catchphrases, pop art t-shirts, phoniness and grandstanding. The funny thing is that I, yes, ME, could take Obama and twist him into a pretzel in a live debate. Actually, I’m sure that most people could. But the grand luxury is that Obama debates people just as uncaring, insular and clueless as himself. Stick your average politician in front of a pissed-off Joe Lunchbox on live TV and see just how poorly the politician tries to keep his or her composure.

      • It’s somewhat disturbing to see those ten of thousands at all those Democratic conventions in the lead up to the election, swallowing the Obama hype. To me, it’s no different from the masses assembled at the Republican gatherings. Many of these folks believe that the other side is inherently evil, but really, there’s little difference between the two extremes. Both “sides” of American politics break my heart. The “conservatives” trumpet pro-life values but fail to extend the notion to encompass pacifism and respect for the lives of people living on foreign soil. The “progressives” support “anti-war” Obama, but fail to hold Obama accountable for his escapades in Libya. Obama isn’t anti-capital punishment, either. In fact, he’s very much all for it. As much as I’d love to tell off Obama, I’d also question his most ardent supporters about what separates Obama from his so-called opposition.
