And Here’s The Trailer for The Huntsman: Winter’s War

I was not a huge fan of Snow White and The Huntsman but The Huntsman: Winter’s War — which is apparently a prequel — looks like it might feature a lot of good, over-the-top fun.  How can you not be at least a little bit excited about a film featuring three ass-kicking actresses — Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain — and Chris Hemsworth?

Check out the trailer below.  The film comes out on April 22nd!

Here’s The Final Trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!

I’ve been pretty open about the fact that I’m not enthusiastic about the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice film.  Maybe it’s because of how much I absolutely loathed Man of Steel or maybe it’s just because I’m not really a fan of comic book movies in general (with the MCU films being an obvious exception) but it’s just hard for me to imagine Dawn of Justice actually turning out to be that good of a film.

And the first few trailers did little to change my mind.  The whole thing looked overdone and, to me, Ben Affleck looked more than a little silly in his Batman outfit.

But then the final Dawn of Justice trailer was released yesterday and you know what?  The final trailer actually works.  They should have released this trailer first.  In fact, maybe this should have been the only trailer they released.  Because, for the first time, Dawn of Justice actually looks like it could be a reasonably entertaining film.

Watch the trailer for yourself and see what you think!  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released on March 25th.

It’s Time To Purge Again…Here’s The Trailer For The Purge: Election Year!

2014’s The Purge: Anarchy was a wonderfully subversive political satire disguised as an action film.  Not only was Anarchy a huge improvement over the original Purge, it also introduced many filmgoers to Frank Grillo, one of the greatest tough guy actors since Robert Mitchum.

After the success of Anarchy, there was little doubt that there would be a third Purge film.  There was also little doubt that Frank Grillo would return.

And that time has finally arrived.  Earlier today, the first trailer for The Purge: Election Year was released.  And here it is!

The Purge: Election Year will be released on the 4th of July.

Here’s The Super Bowl TV Spot For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of The Shadows

Hi!  Captain American, Jason Bourne, and the X-Men weren’t the only ones to be featured in Super Bowl advertisements tonight!  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles showed up as well.  And while I have less than zero desire to see this film, I know that there are plenty of people out there who disagree with me.  So, with those people in mind, here’s the ad for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows!

The Jungle Book Super Bowl Trailer

The Jungle Book

A month before we marvel at Captain America: Civil War we shall be treated to the latest film adaptation of Disney’s animated film The Jungle Book which itself is an adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling of the same name.

This film has such an impressive pedigree. In the director’s chair is Jon Favreau who is the man who help begin the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man. The cast is a who’s who of some of the most recognizable actors working today: Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Lupito Nyong’o, Christopher Walken, Giancarlo Esposito and Bill Murray.

The Jungle Book is being touted as the next step in visual effects in filmmaking with everything except the young Mowgli being computer-generated. The film’s sizzle reel trailer wowed everyone at this past summer San Diego Comic-Con and this Super Bowl trailer does everything to help make that sizzle turn into a full-blown firestorm of hype.

The Jungle Book is set to come out on April 15, 2016.

Here’s the Latest Trailer For Demolition!

Much like Miles Ahead, Demolition is another film that was briefly pegged as a certain 2015 Oscar nominee until its release date was moved back to 2016.  Jean-Marc Vallee’s follow-up to the wonderful Wild, Demolition features Jake Gyllenhaal as a recent widower who struggles to deal with his grief.

I have to admit that I’ve seen the first trailer for Demolition about a hundred times now (it plays before every film at the Alamo Drafthouse) and I’m kind of sick of listening to Gyllenhaal talk about that damn vending machine.  That said, I’ll watch Jake Gyllenhaal in just about anything.  If I could force myself to sit through Southpaw, I’m sure I’ll be able to handle Demolition when it opens in April.

Here’s the latest trailer for Demolition!  Unfortunately, it opens with that same endless vending machine monologue but it does go on to reveal that one of my favorite actresses, Naomi Watts, is in the film as well.  So, that’s a good thing.
