Here’s The Trailer For Papillon!
Here’s the trailer for the upcoming film, Papillon! As the trailer itself states, this is based on the amazing true story of Henri Charrière and his escape from the Devil’s Island penal colony.
Of course, this isn’t the first film to be made about Charrière, his escape, and his friendship with Louis Dega. 1973’s Papillon starred Steve McQueen as Charrière and Dustin Hoffman as Dega. I haven’t seen this particular film but many consider it to be a classic.
In this remake, Charrière is played by Charlie Hunnam while Rami Malek takes over the role of Dega. Will it be good or will it be forgettable? The trailer, to be honest, is a bit generic. We’ll find out for sure when the film is released on August 24th!
Here’s The Trailer For This Year’s Winner of the Palme d’Or, Shoplifters!
So, in case your curious about the film that just won the Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes film festival, here is the trailer for Kore-eda Hirokazu’s Shoplifters. Magnolia Pictures has obtained the rights to release this film in North America but, as far as I know, it still doesn’t have an American release date.
(If I’m wrong about the lack of a definite release deate, please feel free to correct me in the comments.)

In Tokyo, Osamu Shibata is married to Nobuyo, who live in poverty. Osamu receives occasional employment and Nobuyo has a low-paying job, but the family relies in large part on the grandmother’s pension. Osamu takes his son Shota shoplifting for groceries, and discover a girl, Yuri, homeless. Osamu takes Yuri to their home, where the family informally adopts her. However, the Tokyo police, aware Yuri is missing, begin to search for her.

Here’s The Trailer for Mission: Impossible — Fallout!
We’re a few days later in sharing this but, as always, it’s better to be late than never!
Say what you will about Tom Cruise. He’s definitely an actor who I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, he’s got undeniable talent and, whenever I watch him in a good movie (like Edge of Tomorrow), I’m surprised to be reminded of just how compelling he can be onscreen. (Hell, I’d even defend his performance in The Mummy.) On the other hand, I have some friends who flat-out refuse to watch anything that feature Cruise, specifically because they find the whole Scientology thing to just be too creepy.
But, with all that in mind, the Mission: Impossible films have consistently been exciting and entertaining. While Daniel Craig’s James Bond spends all of his time drowning in self-pity, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt reminds us of why we love spy films in the first place.

Here’s The Trailer For Shock and Awe (which appears to deliver little of either)
Here’s the trailer for Shock and Awe, which is apparently a film about the media at the start of the Iraq War.
Don’t get too excited. It was directed by Rob Reiner, who hasn’t done anything worthwhile in quite some time. To be honest, this sounds like exactly the type of project that will bring out all of Reiner’s worst, most middlebrow instincts as a filmmaker.
But who knows? At least Tommy Lee Jones is in it.
Here’s The Super Scandalous Red Band Trailer For The Happytime Murders!
So, at the start of this year, I thought that The Happytime Murders might be a one of those surprising, no-one-saw-it-coming Oscar nominees. The film takes place in a world where both humans and puppets co-exist, though puppets are treated like second class citizens. The film is a murder mystery but, obviously, the plot would seem to suggest that there’s a possibility that there could be a lot more going on underneath the surface.
Then I watched the trailer.
And … yeah, it’s probably not going to be an Oscar nominee. The Academy has changed a lot of over the last few years but I still don’t know if they’re ready to embrace a film that features muppet jizz. The trailer for this one so reminded me of Sausage Party that I was shocked to discover that Seth Rogen is not in the film.
However, Joel McHale is! He’s so adorable.
Also, I noticed that the trailer bragged about being from the same people behind the recent Muppets TV show. Uhmm … I’ll have to ask Leonard for sure, because I think he’s the only TSLer who regularly watched it, but didn’t everyone hate that show?
Anyway, here’s the red band trailer for The Happytime Murders! If you have kids, be sure to take them. You know how much kids love puppets…
Here’s The Trailer For Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman!
Earlier today, Spike Lee’s BlackkKlansman was screened at the Cannes Film Festival to enthusiastic reviews and a ten minute standing ovation.
Not coincidentally, the first trailer was released today as well. And here it is:
Amazingly enough, this film is based on a true story. In Colorado, an African-American cop named Ron Stallworth really did manage to not only infiltrate the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan but also eventually became the head of the chapter. In the film, Stallworth is played by John David Washington, son of Denzel. His partner is played by Adam Driver, who seems to be destined to get an Oscar nomination at some point in the near future. And David Duke is played by Topher Grace, who has certainly come a long way since That 70s Show.
BlacKkKlansman is due to be released in August of this year. Both Awards Watch and Awards Circuit currently have it listed as a probable Oscar contender and, going by the initial reaction for Cannes, it very well may be.
Here’s The Teaser Trailer For The Predator!
Despite featuring Jacob Tremblay, this is apparently not a sequel to The Book of Henry…
To be honest, the trailer is kind of bleh. Then again, it really doesn’t have to be anything spectacular. Most people who see this film are going to see it because of The Predator name, as opposed to anything that may or may not be in the trailer. Predator is a bit like Alien and The Terminator. There’s always going to be, at the very least, a curiosity factor whenever a new chapter in the franchise comes out.
That said, the film is directed by Shane Black, who is a freaking genius, and the script was co-written by Fred “Night of the Creeps” Dekker. So, I’ll give it a look.
Here’s The Latest Trailer (and the pre-trailer teaser) for Ant-Man and The Wasp!
Hi, everyone!
So, Jeff & I just saw Avengers: Infinity War! I’ll be working on my review tonight but while I’m writing, feel free to watch the latest trailer for this year’s third Marvel film, Ant-Man and The Wasp! 2018 is truly shaping up to be the year of Marvel so it’ll be interesting to see if people get as excited about Ant-Man and The Wasp as they have about Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.
To be honest, the combination of Black Panther and Infinity War have set the bar very high. Obviously, the film isn’t going to have the cultural cachet of Black Panther. Nor does it look like it’s going to be quite as colorful as Infinity War. Instead, this looks very much like a back-to-basics super hero film, one that will make good use of Paul Rudd’s charisma. Hopefully, he and Evangeline Lilly will have a bit more chemistry in this film than they did in the first Ant-Man.
The video below starts with the “Where was Ant-Man during Infinity War?” teaser that was released yesterday and then it continues on to the trailer, which was released earlier today.
Here’s The First Teaser for Stranger Things Season 3!
Here’s the first teaser for the third season of Stranger Things!
Don’t expect to learn anything about what’s actually going to happen during season 3 from this teaser. In fact, the main message of this trailer seems to be, “We’re in production. Get off our freaking back.” The teaser, however, does make sure to remind us that Cary Elwes and Jake Busey will be joining the cast in season 3.
So, all of you Jake Busey fans — rejoice!
(And really, who isn’t a Jake Busey fan?)
Interestingly enough, at one point, I wanted to write a movie specifically for Cary Elwes and Jake Busey, one in which they played tabloid journalists who ended up stranded in a town controlled by a Wurdulak. I really should get back to work on that…
