Here’s The Teaser for Carol!

Here’s the teaser for the upcoming film, Carol!

Carol, which is based on a Patricia Highsmith novel and stars Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, was widely acclaimed at Cannes and it’s expected to be a major Oscar contender.

(Yes, that’s right — Rooney might finally get an Oscar nomination that she actually deserves, as opposed to the nomination she got for David Fincher’s insulting bastardization of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.)

This teaser looks pretty good.  The only thing that concerns me is that director Todd Haynes may have be acclaimed by some critics but I’m Not There was a mess that featured a handful of good scenes and a general sense of incoherent pretension.  And his version of Mildred Pierce was a total travesty, which was mostly rewarded for what it should have been as opposed to what it actually was.

So, Carol could be brilliant.  Or it could be totally overrated.  I look forward to finding out!

Trailer: Let Me Make You A Martyr

Here’s the trailer for Let Me Make You A Martyr, an upcoming crime film that has been getting a lot of attention because it features Marilyn Manson as a hit man.

I’m not sure how I feel about this trailer.  I like the visual atmosphere and it’s look like the film uses Manson to good effect.  At the same time, that droning voice over gets on my nerves.

I’ll be looking forward to discovering whether Let Me Make You A Martyr is another Cold In July or another Paperboy.

Trailer: Goodnight Mommy

So, what does everyone think of the trailer for Goodnight, Mommy?  For the past few months, people have been hyping this movie as one of the scariest movies ever made.  The trailer certainly has its moments, nicely mixing obvious scares with moments of deep unease and ominous atmosphere.  This is one movie that I will definitely be seeing as soon as it opens in theaters.

And Here’s The Trailer For The 33

The 33 is an upcoming film about the 2010 Chilean mine accident.  For those who may have somehow forgotten, 33 Chilean miners were trapped underground for 69 days.  For those 69 days, the entire world was watching Chile and, when the miners were finally rescued, we were all briefly united in our happiness.

(Needless to say, that didn’t last long.)

Personally, I like the trailer for The 33 but I do kind of wish that the film’s producers had just had the guts to have everyone in the film speak Spanish, as opposed to going the heavily accented English route.

Here’s The Trailer for Spotlight

Here’s the trailer for the upcoming film, Spotlight.  Spotlight is obviously being set up to be a potential Oscar contender but, to be honest, I have a feeling it’s going to be one of those “well-intentioned” misfires that will be familiar to anyone who follows the ups and downs of the annual Oscar race.

(Remember when everyone thought that Unbroken was going to win it all?)

That said, some would argue that Michael Keaton is owed an Oscar to make up for losing to Eddie Redmayne earlier this year.

Trailer: The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

Here’s the trailer for the second installment in The Maze Runner franchise.  Did I like the first Maze Runner?  According to the review that I posted on this site, I thought it was above average but I think it’s definitely telling that I can barely remember a thing about it.

Hopefully, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials will be a little bit more memorable.

And finally, here’s the final Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two Trailer!

Jennifer Lawrence

Below, you’ll find the last Hunger Games trailer ever!

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 comes to theaters on November 20th and I can tell you already that tears will flow from my mismatched, heterochromatic eyes when it’s all over.  Much like Sharknado, The Hunger Games has truly become a part of our shared culture and it’s hard to imagine a world with no new installments on the horizon.

Watch the trailer below and then read Leonard Wilson’s review of the first Hunger Games.

And then after you read Leonard’s take, read Leon The Duke’s review.

And then check out my review of Catching Fire.

And finally, read my thoughts on the first part of Mockingjay!

Enjoy!
