#LateNightMovie review: “The Creeping Terror”

This week for #LateNightMovie we watched ‘The Creeping Terror’ and there are several things I want to say about this movie, but I will get to those soon!

220px-Creepingterror
From the start tho, Tammy, this was a great movie for us! Awesome pick! I never doubt the movies you pick for us, and this was another amazingly (horrible) one! 😉

Director:

Vic Savage (as A.J. Nelson)

Writers:

Vic Savage, Robert Sillphant*

Stars:

Vic Savage as Martin Gordon

Shannon O’Neil as Brett Gordon

Plot:

After escaping from a crashed space ship, a snail like creature terrorizes all humanity! And all humanity snail squishing follows.

Review:

Okay, many of us retro sci-fi geeks regard this as one of the worst films ever (as pointed out by the quips below). And there have been many reviews done about how bad this movie is. So I won’t take my review in that direction. What I will do is point out all of the nepotism in the movie.

First, Vic Savage! Let’s just all giggle and get over that, AJ!

Second, most likely, Robert didn’t write this movie; His brothers Allan and Sterling did. From all the records, it looks like Robert had very little to do with the writing, but is credited anyway.

It is not consequential how the movie got made, but better the fact that we had a great movie to watch!

And obviously the #LateNightMovie gang had fun!

kellythul:
In Spirographvision

We all had our goggles on for that, Kelly!
WarrenPeas64:
This movie is exquisitely excrementlike, but I adore it

TRDowden:
SFX Guy: Okay, here’s what we’ll do. You grab that part of the creature from the last movie we did, and I’ll just sew a couple of rugs on the back of it

JesCoolbaugh:
Nothing this big???? Poor dear…

Sadly, yep! 😦

PinkyGuerrero:
like no one had driven on the road before them

Janeen_FluffyJ:
special unit last night was much better

Wait for the comments, Jinni!

Philo1000:
Is this a Japanese movie?

JesCoolbaugh:
That narrator is so handy. Saves so much time having to write pesky dialogue and stuff…

ekym:
we should DUB our own dialogue into one of these for fun

I thought that is what we did each week at LNM, Myke! LOL

PinkyGuerrero:
never pick the baby up, children are toxic

TRDowden:
It’s the IKEA carpet that ate Cleveland

PinkyGuerrero:
the monster isn’t attracted to hootenannies

WarrenPeas64
So these people are 1) incredibly stupid 2) deaf and 3) have NO peripheral vision

LisaMarieBowman:
But at the end of filming, they rolled up the carpet, lit it on fire, and got really high so there was that.

PinkyGuerrero:
this is like a pre-roomba, everything getting swept under the rug
kellythul:
no words

Well you did have words Kelly, And I will give you to them!

Kelly said it best!

kellythul:
REPORT: Identified human weaknesses: 1) They stand still when frightened. 2) They stand still when their dancing is interrupted 3) Some are SUPER fat 4) They can easily be tricked into crawling

If you want to see what all the LNM fun is about, here is a link to The Creeping Terror!

Thank you Warren, Pinky, Phil, Lisa, Myrna, Kapt Kurt, Kelly, Jes, Jinni, Holly, Myke and Ambie for watching #LateNightMovie with me!

What to watch on TV this week.

With November sweeps coming to an end, so does the fall TV season. As much as a mixed bag of shows this season has brought us, here are a few fall/winter finales you might want to check out.

And Since I am posting this on Sunday… Let’s start with today!

Sunday, November 29th

Okay, not technically the fall finale, as there will be one more episode of ‘Once Upon a Time’ this fall. But if you are not keeping up with the drama of Emma and her dark swan, you should be! Also, Hook and Gold might finally have their confrontation!

Here is the promo!

And I know we all are waiting on the mid-season finale of ‘The Walking Dead’  There are rumors of a major death in tonight’s episode. But let’s take our mind off that for a minute and just try and figure out how the peace will be broken!

Here is the promo!

Holy Frak! Did we all make it thru Sunday night? Are we all okay? We still have several more days to go!

Monday, November 30th

In ‘Gotham’ Bruce is abducted, and to get a little darker (not like this season could) Jim has to find an unlikely alliance. You can probably guess who that is! (or not)

Here is a glimpse of the future!

Okay, Okay! I get it! Those shows were dark and we all need a bit of funny now! And the CW can bring that! ‘Crazy Ex Girlfriend’ Has its winter finale tonight, too. I am not going to gush, but paired with ‘Jane The Virgin’ these two shows make a hilarious Monday night! After an amazing Thanksgiving episode, Rebecca moves on to Christmas. I am Team Greg, but you all can have your own opinion…Wait, who is zooming who’s Mom!

Here is a sneak peak!

We got all this so far? We okay? Because the TV week is fixing to get complicated. We got a two night cross-over event to get thru now! Fortunately there is only one promo to get thru.

Tuesday and Wednesday December 1st and 2nd

The Flash and Arrow cross-over event happens. Starting with Savage attacking Kendra and Barry takes her to Star City seeking help From Oliver. In the Back half, Oliver and Barry work together to defeat Savage.

Two night preview!

Just when you thought the week was done. Nope, we still got the best show on TV right now to go! Wednesday also brings us the fall finale of ‘Empire’ Where will Empire land? Is Dynasty on the rise? Is Anika that crazy? Can the family pull together?

Here is the best guess I got!

Along with those shows, Rosewood, Reign and the ABC comedies all have their fall finales this week.

Wow, we made it to Thursday and all the way thru November sweeps! If we all aren’t brain dead by now, Let’s talk about ‘The Wiz Live!’

Happy TV viewing!

Down and Dangerous review

Down and Dangerous review. (2013)

Writer and Director: Zak Forsman

Stars:

John T. Woods as Paul Boxer

Paulie Redding (Credited as Paulie Rojas) as Olivia Ivarra

Judd Nelson as Charles

Plot:

Paul Boxer (JTW) A less-than-gun wielding smuggler has to confront his past and future in one single moment. Having to bring several kilos of cocaine over the border, he is confronted with his nemesis…..or villainess! Many decisions insue, right or wrong! Hooded and on his knees…..BANG!! …Jobs done, you take it from here….And I won’t spoil the rest of it for you! But a bigger choice comes.

Review:

From a small Kickstarter campaign in 2011, Zak Forsman pulled off an amazing movie! I got to give it up that I love Indie movies, and when one is done this well!…*tips hat* To Zak Forsman!  John T. Woods was great! I do have a couple minor complaints, but minor, and I will never let those get in the way of me seeing a great movie!

You can see the trailer here!

If you don’t have the time to watch the movie; recount the amount of time you have! This is a great Indie movie!

#LateNightMovie review: Mission Stardust

Mission Stardust: Nov 14, 2015

This is how many weeks in a row I am late with the #LateNightMovie review? At least one week, each week, lately! Tho it doesn’t show, I promise I am trying to do better!

This last week (Nov. 14, 2015) we watched ‘Mission Stardust’ and seriously, if you haven’t watched this movie, go and watch now! (link below) I found this movie again while perusing the depths of the You Tubes!

affiche-4-3-2-1-operation-lune-mission-stardust-1967-2

Director:

Primo Zeglio

Writers:

Kurt Vogelmann (as as K.H. Vogelmann)

Sergio Donati

Stars:

Langs Jeffries as Maj. Perry Rhodan

Essy Perrson as Thora

Joachim Hansen as Dr. Manoli

Plot:
Sent to the Moon to to save an alien who is trying to save her race, a group of astronauts are attacked by a band of Robots.

Review:
Based on the “Perry Rhodan” * novels, which I have read several times over, I did like this movie. Actually, more than the reviews I have read, this is one of the better movies in the series. But I have to fall back on my book reading for a minute. And I know all of us book readers do this, Yes, read the book series before watching a movie. If you can’t, this movie is worth the watch. Very snarkable, but yet, not closely inlined with the book series.

*Perry Rhodan is a series of books from the German authors KH Scheer and Walter Ernsting

The quips from the LNM gang were great!

First off Kelly reminded me :

kellythul:
redact all boos PAtrick

and I did,Kelly!

kellythul:is that Gerald Webb? He dresses like Gerald…

But after that, I turned them back on! Booo!!!

Becky:
The coolest kermits EVA!

Sweet_Iron_Man:
spacex still can’t land the booster rocket like that too soon!

WarrenPeas64:
Pinch me, tell me I’m not dreaming… harder… now slap me and call me a dirty little boy

Well, Warren….your dreams are yours, nobody judges!

TRDowden:
Freud would have a field day with this movie

Pinky Guerrero:
Jes #SpaghettiScifi #greatbandname

Janeen_FluffyJ:
Honey, woman are always in command

Is so true, Jinni!

hwilson2009:
Bam! Pow! Pew pew pew!

Hols bringing the pew pews!

Sweet_Iron_Man:
their goes a VW cheating emissions again

HAHA! Steve!

And as much as I could recap this movie, Warren did it best!

WarrenPeas64:
From what I can tell, the producers took 10 4th graders in Munich, told them to write 2 pages of something to do with space, then mixed up their non connected stories randomly and filmed it.

If you want to watch and see the fun…here ya can!

Thanks to Cindy, Ambie, Becs, Jes, Pinky, Kelly, Kurt, Lisa, Phil, Steve, Tammy,Warren for LateNightMovie with me again!

#LateNightMovie review: The Alien Factor

Being that this is my first #LateNightMovie review on TSL, just want to let you all know how this mess got started. Several years ago I was tweeting bad sci-fi movies late at night. Somehow Holly (@hwilson2009) and Janeen (@Janeen_FluffyJ ) found out that I was doing that. Holly was the first one to ask what I was doing, soon after Jinni joined in shortly after Tammy (@TRDowden) joined in. We quickly learned that twitter wouldn’t be able to keep up with us. Holly had this great chat room (@syfydesigns) for us all to talk in and #LateNightMovie was born. Thru there we have found a great group of friends to hang out with every Friday and Saturday nights!

This past week we watched “The Alien Factor” I found this movie while perusing the depths of Hulu during one of my movie watches a few months ago. Kinda tossed it in the back of my mind and then stumbled across it again.

affiche-the-alien-factor-1978-1

Director and writer: Don Dohler

Stars:

Don Leifert as Ben Zachary

Tom Griffith as Sheriff Cinder

Plot:
A spaceship with an extraterritorial zoo crashes on Earth near a redneck town, how could this go wrong!

Review:

This was Don Dohlers first credited movie. He did revise it later in the 1982 movie “NightBeast” and later in 1982’s “Aliens Factor 2” Both of which failed horribly. The thing is, Don Dohlers is not credited enough. As a low-budget film maker, Dohler did some really great work. His work has that capture you anyway feeling about them. Infectious and raw at the same time. So I am going to take this time, as a horror and sci-fi junkie, just to appreciate this movie for what it is; A great, low-budget film, that we all can have fun with!

And speaking of fun, The #LateNightMovie gang had a great amount of fun! The quips were awesome!

Quips:

garnerhaines:
This was before they invented tailgate parties.

WarrenPeas64:
Three Dog Night lost their Mystery Machine van

Janeen_FluffyJ:
aaaaahhh, poking with secreations… she was attacked by a turkey baster?

Philo1000:
Alien or jerk boyfriend? choose

Phil had a choice to make! lol

Philo1000:
#BEER RUN BRB

Janeen_FluffyJ:
That was the last dance for Mary Jane folks.

garnerhaines:
So, are there two alien factions trying to annihilate the town? One glowy and the other with slimy armor?

WarrenPeas64:
The bears injected the guy with poison to frame the chipmunks. It’s SO obvious

ElwayC:
atari rules

kurtzellner:
i want the partridge family to sing again they rocked

LeMyrn:
married sex is alien sex

Philo1000:
seriously?

Yeah, Phil, seriously I made that joke!

Thank you Garner, Kurt, Phil, Ambie, Becs, Jes, Cindy, Jinni, Myrna, Warren, Holly for watching #LateNightMovie with me this week!

New “The Time Is Right” preview is out!

I so want this series to get funded; the premise is so awesome!

Created by Garner Haines (Max & Ruby, Kate and Mim-Mim and Almost Naked Animals

Poducer Rebeka Herron (Ice Pilots NWT, The Legend of Davy Crockett)

Stars:

Ellen Dubin (Lexx, The Collector, Napoleon Dynamite) as VERITY

Sebastian Spence (Battlestar Gallactica, Supernatural, Smallville) as SYD

Cas Anvar (Argo, Boston Legal, Castle)  as BARRY

Russell Yuen (Dark Matters, Make It Pop) as Mr. Chen

Nicole G. Leier (The Interview, Rogue) as DANA

Premise:

“One decision can mean the difference between life and death. When you lose someone you love, you’d do anything to have that person back again.

What if you could change their fate? What would you be willing to do? How far are you willing to go?

Those are the questions I want answered!

The preview is here

Help my friends fund here, if you like

X-Files previews!

Although I have given up on Gotham and Minority Report, FOX did give us a few previews during them to a show that I am exited about!
Yes, I mean X-Files. And, yes, I watched both of them just to see the X-Files preview!
If you want to skip the shows and just watch the X-files trailers, they are here.
Also, how soon can January get here!

This was the Emmys before!

I am going to apologize for this post, but I went down an Emmy rabbit hole. There are things you should see tho!

This was the opening song when John Forsythe hosted it in 1985

Cagney & Lacey John Larroquette also won that year!
Further down…the rabbit hole… In 1983

Barbara Stanwyck gave this amazing speech in 1983!

St. Elsewhere, Cheers, Hill Street Blues and taxi grabbed most of the awards.

Just found this! A very young David Letterman presenting a very young Betty White! Bea Auther Shelley Long and Phylicia Rashad are also in it!

The Emmys started in 1949. I won’t go that far down the rabbit hole, but hope you enjoyed a bit of my memory lane!

2015 Emmy review and winners list

You can watch his speech here.

Overall, I thought it was a good Emmys. Take back what Samberg messed up, it could have been great. When I started watching I wanted Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to take over, but now I am all
Final thoughts, Broadcast TV, you got your rear end handed to you! 11 of the major awards went to Streaming or Cable.  Either learn to stream or get cable with it!

Fall is Back and so is new TV!

Finally, we get to the fall season! Cooler temps, the sun sets earlier, the leaves change to beautiful colors! And you know what that means? Real TV is back! We are done with the summer “reality crap” No more of ‘How do I magic this’ or ‘Network burns off this show’ or ‘my Big Brother watches this house’. We get real TV back! The TV I want to watch. And they are several Shows I have set my DVR for.

I will take these in order of the day they show on, and full disclosure, I have seen a couple of the pilots, I will note them if I have.

Monday:

We all know “Gotham” is coming back with it’s new season, ‘Rise of the villains.’ I have not seen the screener for “Gotham” but the trailer looks awesome!

Also, on Monday, Fox will premier it’s new show “Minority Report” based on the Steven Spielberg movie of the same name. I have seen this pilot and although I try to give each show a four episode test…don’t bother.
But if you must look, here is a glimpse ..
Tuesday
Tuesdays are going to be way over loaded this year! We got “Scream Queens” and “The Muppets” (as of this writing, I have only seen the screener for “The Muppets,” which is hilarious!) I will have to watch “Scream Queens” live with you!
But the trailers are here;
Scream Queens
And
The Muppets
Wednesday:
The reboot of “Rosewood” is here! Ok, I have to admit, I loved the original series and I have seen the pilot of the reboot. Against the popular opinion, I actually thought it was a great pilot reboot! Judge for yourself!
Thursday:
Heroes;Reborn
Heroes was great during season one, But let’s not forget what happened during season two and the writers strike!
I want “Heroes” to be the success it was before.
Like it or not…you can be reborn here.
That was just a little of what I will cover this fall!
Remember, TV is great!
