Artist Profile: George Geygan

When I was looking for information on the artist George Geygan, I came across a memorial for a George T. Geygan at FindAGrave.com.

George T. Geygan was born in 1910 and died in 1974.  Since most of George Geygan’s illustrations were done in the 1950s, the years work.  Unfortunately, the only other information on the memorial page was that George T. Geygan served as a private in the U.S. Amry and was buried at Long Island National Cemetery.  If I had to guess, I would say that the George T. Geygan who served in the army is the same George Geygan who created the illustrations below.   George Geygan isn’t exactly a common name. However, I can’t say for sure.

For now, what I know for sure is that all the wonderful work below was done by an artist named George Geygan:

  1. Your assumptions are very likely correct. George Geygan was born 1910 in Cincinnati. He and his family moved to New York somewhere between the birth of his first son (abt 1935) and his second (abt 1938). In the 1940 census, his occupation is listed as “artist”. He married a (very) distant cousin of mine. I found your post doing family research.
