Here’s the LATEST trailer for Masterminds, that film nobody’s really that interested in seeing!

Remember Masterminds?  It’s the comedy film from Jared Hess that nobody was really that interested in seeing when it was scheduled to be released in 2015.  Of course, as a result of a production company going bankrupt and some other legal stuff, Masterminds wasn’t released in 2015 and nobody really noticed.

Well, apparently, the film is finally going to be released this September!  You may want to see it or you may not.  Myself, I’ll just keep hoping that someone will finally get around to doing a sequel to that movie with Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride.

Here’s the latest trailer.

Here’s The Trailer For The Great Wall!

PCAS

Oh my God, I just watched the trailer for The Great Wall and it looks like it might actually be a lot of fun!  Monsters are threatening to destroy the Great Wall of China but don’t worry!  Matt Damon’s there and he has a bow and arrow!  Add to that, the film is directed by the great Zhang Yimou and it was written by Max Brooks, the man who wrote World War Z!

Seriously, this looks like a lot of fun to me.

The Great Wall will hit theaters on February 17th, 2017.

Here’s the Trailer for Hacksaw Ridge!

PCASThe upcoming film, Hacksaw Ridge, tells the story of Desmond Doss.  Doss was an army medic who, during World War II, refused to carry a weapon because of his religious beliefs.  Considering that we currently live in warlike times and even so-called liberals are currently making excuses for all sorts of war mongering, Hacksaw Ridge seems like it could have the potential to be an important film.  It’s due to be release at the height of awards season.

Add to that, it stars Andrew Garfield, who is one of those actors who seems to be destined for an Oscar nomination at some point in his life.  (He might get one this year for his role in Martin Scorsese’s Silence.)  Vince Vaughn, a good actor who could really use a good role at this point in his career, is also in this film.

However, the film is also directed by Mel Gibson and that’s the big question mark, isn’t it?  He’s not a bad director and this seems like his type of subject matter but he’s still Mel Gibson.  Will the same film industry that embraced convicted child molester Victor Salva continue to view Mel Gibson as being a pariah?

We’ll get a chance to see if Hacksaw Ridge lives up to its Oscar contender potential on November 24th!

Here’s the trailer!

The Blair Witch Returns In This Trailer That You May Have Already Seen

So, I’m a little bit late in sharing the trailer for the upcoming film Blair Witch.  But better late than never, right?

Normally, I would be dismissive of this film just because it’s another Blair Witch film.  However, I am cautiously optimistic because Blair Witch was directed by the one and only Adam Wingard!  On the basis of You’re Next and The Guest, I will always be excited to see anything directed by Adam Wingard!

Add to that, Lionsgate deserves a lot of credit for keeping anyone from even knowing this film was even in production until revealing its existence at SDCC last weekend.  That’s the sort of marketing genius that deserves to be rewarded!

Here’s the trailer!

Here’s The Trailer for Split!

PCAS

I’ve been reading about this new movie called Split.  It’s about a man who has 23 separate personalities and the three girls who he keeps in the basement.

Here’s the good news: the film stars James McAvoy, who seems like the perfect pick for this type of role.  Anya Taylor-Joy, who was so good in The Witch, is also in it.  The film is directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who made a comeback of sorts with The Visit.

Here’s the bad news: This sounds like exactly the type of storyline that will bring out Shyamalan’s worst tendencies.  I’m going to predict right now that the film is going to end with either the three girls turning out to be figments of McAvoy’s imagination (or maybe manifestations of three of his personalities) or McAvoy turning out to be a figment of someone else’s imagination.  Or maybe Anya Taylor-Joy will turn out to be the one with multiple personalities and the whole movie has just been taking place inside of her head.  You know it’s going to happen.

Add to that, the movie is being released in January of 2017. January is traditionally the time that studios dump their worst films.

Oh well, no need to worry!  The world’s going to end in November regardless.

Anyway, here’s the trailer for the film that none of us will ever get the chance to see!

Doctor Strange Trailer Arrives At SDCC 2016

Doctor Strange

San Diego Comic-Con for the past decade has always been a major mainstay for Marvel Studios when it comes to releasing their latest news and trailer for their upcoming films. There has been rumors the last couple years that Marvel Studios may skip Comic-Con and it’s venerable Hall H altogether in the near-future. Marvel Studios being owned by Disney means they have access to their parent company’s own D23 event. There’s even talk of just having a yearly Marvel Con to showcase everything Marvel.

Until that occurs many who attend San Diego Comic-Con will stand hours (some even days) to be able to get into Hall H and be the first to see what Marvel Studios has up it’s sleeves. This year we get the latest trailer on their biggest gamble to date: Doctor Strange.

A gamble in that it will delve deeply into the one aspect of the Marvel Universe it has so far avoided: magic.

One cannot make a film about Doctor Strange and not portray the magic and sorcery, the otherworldly dimensions and demons, spells and illusions. This is the bread and butter of the Sorcerer Supreme and if this latest trailer is any indication then filmmaker Scott Derrickson may have just broken the code in how to integrate this aspect of the Marvel Universe into the grounded, albeit hyper-reality, of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange arrives this November 4, 2016.

Wonder Woman Trailer Emerges At Comic-Con To Thunderous Applause

Wonder Woman

“What I do is not up to you.” — Wonder Woman

With that single line in the newly released San Diego Comic-Con trailer for next summer’s Wonder Woman a gauntlet has been dropped on manbros everywhere.

With Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice having been received with underwhelmingly at best to outright vehemence with some, DC was now setting it’s sights on the third of the DC Triumvirate to help right the DC Extended Universe film franchise. With Patty Jenkins doing directing duties and Gal Gadot in the title role, Wonder Woman will actually beat Marvel Studios in having the first female-led superhero film by at least a year.

From the reaction written about at SDCC’s Hall H where Warner Bros. had it’s presentation the trailer was received with thunderous applause and hope that DC has learned from their past mistakes and now ready to truly show the world it’s own diverse and wondrous universe of Gods, monsters, heroes and men.

Wonder Woman is set for a June 2, 2017 release date.

Check Out Tom Holland and A Lot Of Snow in The Trailer For Edge of Winter

So, Tom Holland — who was definitely one of the high points of Captain America: Civil War — is destined to become a star next year when the new Spider-Man film is released.  However, before Holland becomes forever associated with the role previously played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, you can catch him in Edge of Winter!

This thriller is due to be released on August 12th and, considering that it is apparently never going to snow in Texas again, I will definitely see it just for the chance to be reminded of what cold weather is like!

Frat Bros, Nick Jonas, and James Franco Go Crazy In The Trailer For Goat!

It’s FRAT BROS GONE CRAZY!  Check out the trailer for the new film, Goat.  Not only does it feature Nick Jonas-inspired mayhem but it also has James Franco!

For the record, Goat is not meant to be a Neighbors-style comedy.  According to most of the early reviews that I’ve read, it’s actually a pretty dark look at toxic masculinity.  While I’m usually not that interested in films about Bros Gone Wild, I will definitely watch it just to see what strange spin James Franco brings to his latest role.
