Here’s The Latest Teaser For Showtime’s Twin Peaks!

I’ve been hearing rumors that Kirsten Dunst might have an outside chance of getting an Oscar nomination for her performance as a recovering drug addict in the upcoming film, Woodshock.

Well, judging from the trailer below, it’s hard to say for sure. I love this trailer but it seems to indicate that Woodshock is either going to be brilliant or a mess. If nothing else, Kirsten Dunst appears to be playing a character similar to the one that she played in Melancholia. Dunst may have become a star playing a cheerleader in the first Bring It On but her best performances have always been the ones, like Crazy/Beautiful, Melancholia, and perhaps this one, where Dunst has played troubled characters who seem to be lost in the world.

Woodshock will be released on September 15th.

Here’s The Final Trailer For Wonder Woman!

Oh God.

Every few months, a new DCU trailer is released and everyone says that the DCU is finally going to be as good as the MCU.

Man of Steel was going to be an Oscar contender.

Batman v Superman was going to be the epic that made us reconsider everything we thought we knew about super hero films.

Suicide Squad was going to be the most fun that anyone had ever had at the movies.

Now, everyone’s saying that Wonder Woman is going to be the first good DCU movie. Well, I certainly hope that’s the case.

The latest (and final) trailer seems to confirm that the best thing that Wonder Woman has going for it is Gal Gadot. The trailer also has a self-aware feel to it that I hope will be present in the actual film. After three films that took themselves way too seriously, the DCU needs to have a little fun.

Here’s a Teaser for The Mist!

In June, a TV show based on Stephen King’s The Mist will air on Spike TV. I’m not particularly enthusiastic about it but I know some people are.

And, in all honestly, the latest teaser does look effective. I’ve read a few comments online that have described this teaser as being gory but, to be honest, it’s no more extreme than the typical episode of The Walking Dead. I mean, yeah, there’s some blood and there’s some dead people but … bleh. How is that shocking? That said, this teaser does create and maintain a properly ominous atmosphere. I’ll give the show a chance when it airs.

At first, I was enthusiastic about Blade Runner 2049.

Then, for reasons that I’m still not quite sure that I understand, I became rather less enthusiastic. I thought about all the disappointing sequels and reboots that I’ve seen and, for whatever reason, I failed to take into account all of the recent sequels — Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 –– that I’ve seen that actually did work. I thought about how tremendous hype often leads to disturbing results. I considered that, after a countless number of brilliant films, Denis Villeneuve is due for disappointment. These were my concerns and I started to lower my expectations.

But then, earlier today, I saw the trailer and it looks totally badass!

Seriously, I love that trailer.

Here’s the teaser for Marvel’s latest network television show, The Inhumans.

There’s really not much to this teaser, just a lot disembodied voices and a title. It seems to be going for a Game of Thrones sort of feel but then again, just about everything is nowadays.

I’m still mad that they canceled Agent Carter.

Talk about perfect timing!

Here at the Shattered Lens, we just finished up our look back at the first two seasons (and the movie version) of Twin Peaks! One day later, Showtime releases this trailer for the upcoming revival!

This is called 25 years later and it features several rather ominous shots of some of our favorite citizens of Twin Peaks! There’s Big Ed (Everett McGill) sitting at a table and looking disturbed! There’s Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie) in a grocery store! Oh look, it’s Harry Dean Stanton! What is Deputy Andy (Harry Goaz) looking at? Why is Deputy Hawk (Michael Horse) saying, “Really?”

And is that our Dale Cooper or is that the evil Doppelganger Cooper? Perhaps only Kyle MacLachlan knows for sure!

Here’s The Trailer For The Big Sick

Back in January and February, I was looking forward to seeing The Big Sick. Then I spent March and April listening to people insist that 1) The Big Sick is the greatest comedy ever and 2) if you don’t see and love The Big Sick, then you’ll somehow be responsible for the end of the world. Nothing turns me off quicker than excessive and oppressive hype.

That said, I still hope the movie’s good because I will definitely be seeing it.
