Here’s the teaser for Marvel’s latest network television show, The Inhumans.
There’s really not much to this teaser, just a lot disembodied voices and a title. It seems to be going for a Game of Thrones sort of feel but then again, just about everything is nowadays.
Here at the Shattered Lens, we just finished up our look back at the first two seasons (and the movie version) of Twin Peaks! One day later, Showtime releases this trailer for the upcoming revival!
This is called 25 years later and it features several rather ominous shots of some of our favorite citizens of Twin Peaks! There’s Big Ed (Everett McGill) sitting at a table and looking disturbed! There’s Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie) in a grocery store! Oh look, it’s Harry Dean Stanton! What is Deputy Andy (Harry Goaz) looking at? Why is Deputy Hawk (Michael Horse) saying, “Really?”
And is that our Dale Cooper or is that the evil Doppelganger Cooper? Perhaps only Kyle MacLachlan knows for sure!
Watch the trailer below!
And then, get caught up on the story so far with the TSL’s look at Twin Peaks:
Back in January and February, I was looking forward to seeing The Big Sick. Then I spent March and April listening to people insist that 1) The Big Sick is the greatest comedy ever and 2) if you don’t see and love The Big Sick, then you’ll somehow be responsible for the end of the world. Nothing turns me off quicker than excessive and oppressive hype.
That said, I still hope the movie’s good because I will definitely be seeing it.
Much as how all of the early films in the MCU were leading to the creation of The Avengers, all of Netflix’s Marvel series have been leading up to the creation of The Defenders!
The time has come.
I assume that, while the Avengers are defeating big-budget threats, The Defenders will keep peace on Earth by fighting Sigourney Weaver and ninjas in hallways.
Today, Columbia finally released the first trailer for their adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower!
I love the idea of Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey playing rivals but, in all honesty, this trailer … well, I don’t know how I feel about this trailer. Watching it, I found myself flashing back to watching both Tomorrowland and Prisoners of the Lost Universe. (No, that’s not a good thing.) Columbia is advertising this with “In a world of superheroes, there is only one gunslinger” but, to be honest, this could just as easily be a trailer for the latest entry in either the MCU or the Superman Kills People saga.
That said, trailers are often the worst way to guess what a movie is going to be like and I still hope The Dark Tower is good!
(By the way, the comments section underneath the trailer on YouTube is really annoying. Yes, Roland’s black. Yes, the Man in Black is white. Get over it.)
First off, let me say, I get a lot of movie screeners. Most just don’t fit my style of reviewing. When I saw this one in my inbox I knew it was right up my ally.
Let’s get the technical out of the way and then we can talk about the movie.
Thriller Films in association with Master Key Productions.
Plot:
Damon Richter thought he left the world of possessions, exorcisms, and evil behind until an old friend arrives with frightening information about his estranged daughter knowing that only his otherworldly skills can save her.
Preview:
Early on we meet Damon (Filipowich) A loving and caring father with some serious past. He uses his possession to fight the possessions of others. Caught in a battle between his family and his possession, he has a choice to make between his family or…..
10 years later; Damon is forced with the same choice again…
Review:
Actually, this is a completely different spin on the classic “Exorcism” story that we all know. Yes, it has some of the same elements, however (without giving spoilers) it is different. And, if you are willing to suspend belief, this is actually a fairly good horror movie.
Complaints:
The CGI left a lot to be desired. I get the budget, but still (no pun intended) it could have been a lot better. Although, as I have watched it twice now, it does add a certain nuance to it.
Overall:
If you are into horror and/or supernatural it is definitely worth the watch!
The trailer for American Exorcism can be found here:
American Exorcism will be available on VOD May 2nd and on DVD August 1st
Well, here’s the teaser for an obscure little art film called Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It’ll be interesting to see if anyone takes the time to discover this little film. Hopefully, it’ll make its way to Alamo Drafthouse at some point because the trailer is actually pretty intriguing. It looks like it might be kind of exciting and there’s a voice over that suggests that there’s actually more going on in this film than just pure spectacle for the sake of spectacle.
“I know only one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end.”
That doesn’t sound good.
(By the way, Mark Hamill actually speaks in this trailer. So, all of you who thought the ending of Force Awakens indicated that Luke Skywalker had been rendered mute — well, you’re wrong! Or, actually, it might be more correct to see that I’m wrong since I think I was the only one who thought that.)
The Last Jedi comes out on December 15th. I get the feeling that Arleigh and most of the TSL staff have already bought their tickets.
Okay, so I’ll admit that I’m really excited about the trailer for Lady Bloodfight.
But, just from glancing at twitter, it appears that most of y’all are more excited about two other trailers that dropped today!
It’s kind of a tradition to complain that the Thor movies are the weakest part of the MCU. Of course, I would never say that because … well, you know. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. I mean, c’mon!
But anyway, there always has been kind of an inherent silliness to Thor and that silliness certainly seems to be present in the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok.
Silliness, thy name is Jeff Goldblum.
Also, it appears that only Cate Blanchett can destroy Thor’s hammer. Well, that kinda makes sense. Cate Blanchett can do anything.
(I just like the music. Hey, Arleigh, is that Led Zeppelin?)
And then there’s this fun new teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Have I mentioned how much I’m looking forward to this movie?
(Hmmm….Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, there’s a lot of Chris in the MCU. But where’s Christopher Walken?)
Excuse the brevity of this post. I’m currently running from one place to another, as I do every Monday. But there a few new trailers that I need to share with y’all!
For instance, here’s the new trailer for my upcoming biopic, Lady Bloodfight!
Speaking of biopics, here’s the latest trailer for the Tupac Shakur movie, All Eyez On Me! A lot of us thought this movie would be an Oscar contender. Then we watched this trailer.
(If All Eyez On Me is nominated for a bunch of Oscars, this post will, of course, be edited to remove all snark.)
