Here’s The Trailer For Queer

The trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s Queer dropped today.  Based on a novel by William S. Burroughs, the film stars Daniel Craig as William Lee.  (Lee, of course, was Burroughs by any other name,)  After a drug bust, Lee heads down to Mexico and become infatuated with a drug-addicted former serviceman (played by Drew Starkey).

I’ve never really forgiven Guadagnino for his Suspiria remake and I think he’s a fairly overrated filmmaker but Queer has been getting a lot attention on the festival circuit and Daniel Craig has been getting a lot of Oscar buzz for his performance in the lead role.  So, we’ll see.  Here’s the trailer!

Here’s The Trailer For The Legend of Ochi

Here’s one last trailer for the night.  This one is for The Legend of Ochi, starring Willem DaFoe and released by A24.  I have no idea if this will be any good or not but let’s all take a moment to consider just how amazing an actor Willem DaFoe actually is.

Here’s The Trailer For The Electric State!

The trailer for The Electric State, the latest film from the Russo Brothers, dropped earlier today.  The film stars Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown and, if this trailer intrigues you, you’ve got a while to get ready for the film as it’s not set to be released until March of 2025!

6 Ed Wood Trailers For Horrorthon

Since the 10th of October was the 100th anniversary of the birth of director Edward D. Wood, Jr., it seems appropriate to dedicate this week’s edition of Lisa Marie’s Favorite Grindhouse Trailers to him!

Below …. can you handle six trailers for six Ed Wood films!?

Watch, if you dare!

  1. Glen or Glenda (1953)

2. Jail Bait (1954)

3. Bride of the Monster (1955)

4. Plan 9 From Outer Space (1957)

5. The Sinister Urge (1960)

6. Meatcleaver Massacre (1977)

Ana de Armas visits the Continental in the Ballerina Trailer!

It seems rather fitting to see Ana de Armas taking the lead in a story within John Wick’s universe. After all, she’s has a knack for action with films like No Time to Die and Ghosted, and she’s worked with Keanu Reeves in both Knock Knock and Exposed. The real question with Ballerina is whether audiences will want to see a John Wick-like film with a female lead. I can already imagine the incel crowd chirping about how John Wick is now tainted with the touch of – (Ick!! Dare I say it….) – Women. That same crowd may also have forgotten about Adrianne Palicki’s assassin in the first film, and Halle Berry’s character with her dogs in the third. Female Assassins are as old at the Kunoichi. Perhaps even far older than that. There are so many tales to be told, especially in this universe.

I’m excited to see how this turns out. With a look that mirrors Le Femme Nikita and Point of No Return, de Armas’ Eve looks to be just as dangerous as her predecessor, possibly as one of the Ballerina assassins referenced in John Wick 3. The trailer has the feel of the other movies, but we’ll have to wait and find out when it releases. Len Wiseman has the directing duties on this one. It’s been a while since he made a movie, but I did enjoy the style of 2012’s Total Recall. Hopefully, he’ll do good here.

The only thing that I find odd is the name – audiences all know it has to do with John Wick. Does it have to have that whole “From the World of John Wick” in the title? I’m pretty sure your average movie viewer will put things together once they see the Continental, Winston (Ian McShane) or Charon (Lance Reddick, in one of his final roles). Also on hand are Norman Reedus (The Bikeriders) and of course, Keanu Reeves, which could just be a cameo.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina will be in cinemas in 2025.

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan take on horror with the Sinners trailer!

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan are back for another team up. This time, the Creed & Black Panther pair are venturing into horror with Sinners. The trailer doesn’t give much, but it looks as if Jordan may be playing twins. There may possibly be vampires or werewolves involved as well.

Sinners will be in Cinemas in March of 2025.

A new team assembles in the teaser for Marvel’s Thunderbolts!

Despite the superhero fatigue, Marvel’s engine keeps on chugging. While not exactly the same as DC’s The Suicide Squad, Marvel’s Thunderbolts brings together a group of heroes & villains together in the hopes that they can work together against a larger threat. If you haven’t studied, watching AntMan & the Wasp, Black Widow, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier will get you caught up on recent events.

Thunderbolts focuses on Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), who is caught in a crossfire that includes the U.S. Agent, John Walker (Wyatt Russell), The Ghost, a.k.a. Ava Starr (Hannah John-Kamen), and the newly rehabilitated Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). I’m happy to see that Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is back in the mix, along with Yelena’s dad Alexei, played by David Harbour.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts will be in cinemas May 2025.

Leigh Whannell updates a classic with his Wolf Man teaser!

I’ve enjoyed Leigh Whannell’s streak of films since going solo. His work on the Saw and Insidious films with James Wan is well known. Upgrade was a fantastic film and is one of my favorites of his. I enjoyed The Invisible Man, which took a unexpected approach to the original story. He’s at it again with Wolf Man, and it looks like it’s a more personal story here.

Starring Christopher Abbot (Poor Things) and Julia Garner(Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) star in the film, which seems to be about a family defending themselves while camping from a beast in the woods. I just hope the effects in this are on par with Joe Johnston’s The Wolfman. We’ll have to find out.

One cool thing to note here is that like James Wan did with his partner Ingrid Bisu for Malignant, Wolf Man is a spousal / partner affair. Both Lauren Schuker-Blum (wife of Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum, who produces the film) and Whannell have writing duties on this, along with Whannell’s wife, Corbett Tuck (Insidious & Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man will being in Theatres and IMAX next January.
