Lisa Marie’s Week In Review: 9/30/24 — 10/6/24

Welcome to Horrorthon!

We are off to a big start, this October!  In fact, it took only four days of Horrorthon for me to get sick, congested, and feverish.  From Friday to …. well, now, I have been watching and reviewing movies while sick and in bed.  I am now starting to feel a little bit better but still, I take this as a reminder to myself, my collaborators and our readers that the scary season should always be fun.  Be sure to watch a lot of horror movies this month but also be sure to take care of yourself as well!  (My friend Mark has often warned me about pushing myself too hard and this week proved him right!)

On another note, my friend Lauren lives in North Carolina and she reports that the situation there is a hundred times worse than what is being portrayed in the news.  So, keep her and everyone else who was in the path of the hurricane in your thoughts, at the very least.

Here’s what I watched, read, and listened to this week!

Lisa Marie’s Week In Review: 7/8/24 — 7/14/24

It’s been a rough week.  My Dad, who had been in a physical rehab center since the end of May, was finally kicked out by his insurance company.  (I appealed the decision, to no avail.)  He’s not doing well.  On both Friday and Saturday, he fell and had to be taken to the hospital.

As a result, I am exhausted so I’m going to ask your indulgence as I tell you what movies I watched this week and then call it a post.  This week, I watched:

  1. The Bone Collector (1999)
  2. The Clones (1973)
  3. Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987)
  4. Hollywood Man (1976)
  5. Swamp Thing (1982)

Rest in peace, the great Shelley Duvall and the great (and misunderstood) Shannen Doherty.

Lisa Marie’s Week In Review: 6/24/24 — 6/30/24

This month sucked.  From starting things off with no power to my Dad being in first a hospital and then a physical rehab facility to me continually getting lost whenever I had to drive out to visit any of his doctors, June is a month that I would rather forget about.  I will say that I discovered a lot of emotional strength and maturity that I didn’t realize had but still, I’ve spent June exhausted and suffering from all sorts of aches and pains, the majority of which were and are stress-related.

Luckily, I feel like I’m kind of back to my old self.  I’ve learned to adjust to situation.  And I’ve learned that I also have to take care of myself and for me, taking care of myself means writing about movies and TV shows and the Oscars and all that good stuff.  While family will always come first, I do feel like it’s time to get back to regularly posting here on the Shattered Lens.

Seriously …. BRING ON, JULY!
