Music Video of the Day: Monster by Meg Myers (2011, dir by A.P. Fischer)

Is Meg Myers singing about killing a person or about killing an emotion? I think you can view the song and the video either way. The video is wonderfully atmospheric and, yes, the underwater scenes totally freak me out. Meg Myers is an artist who definitely deserves to be better known.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Blue Monday, perforemd by Orkestra Obsolete (2016, dir by ????)

This is a cover of the famous New Order song, performed on 1930s instruments by Orkestra Obsolete. It’s mysterious and haunting, as these things should be. One almost gets the feeling that this could have been lifted from a new before seen sequel to Eyes Wide Shut.

Enjoy the mystery!

Music Video of the Day: Piece of Work by Loren Gray (2021, dir by Daniel Duran)

Some people might be tempted to say that this is a somewhat shallow video but I would argue that it’s actually a very clever parody. As soon as I saw that the garage had a disco ball, I understood exactly what I was dealing with. That said, as I watched the video, I also assumed that Loren Gray is actually the head of a secret organization of international car thieves.

Music Video Of The Day: Unconditional by Dillion Francis & 220 KID feat. Bryn Christopher (2021, dir by Brandon Dermer)

This is going to be a busy and chaotic day so why not celebrate love and music a bit with the latest music video from Dillion Francis? Dillon not only co-stars in this video (along with Danielle King) but he also did all of his own stunts!

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Masquerade by Lindsey Stirling (2021, dir by Stephen Wayne Mallett and Lindsey Stirling)

I’m always happy to share a new music video from Lindsey Stirling! In this one, we discover that Lindsey was a demanding taskmaster, even during the silent era.

The dancers are Addie Byers, Kailyn Rogers, Taylor Gagliano, and Jessica Richens.

Music Video of the Day: Do Somethin’ by Britney Spears (2005, dir by Billie Woodruff and Britney Spears)

Yesterday, a judge denied Britney Spears’s request to remove her father from her conservatorship. This was done despite Britney’s earlier heartfelt and shocking testimony about the Hell of not being allowed to control her own life. Despite that setback, Britney’s fight is not over and all of us will continue to support her efforts to win her freedom. Free Britney!

In honor of Britney, today’s music video of the day is one that she had to fight to make. Britney also had to convince Jive Records to allow her to shoot a video for this song, despite the fact that the label had no plans to release it as a single. Britney not only convinced them but she also made her directorial debut here, working with Billie Woodruff. (Woodruff also directed the videos for Born To Make You Happy and Overprotected.) The end result was an iconic video for an iconic song.

Music Video of the Day: Future Shock by Marc Collin, feat. Clara Luciana (2019, dir by Marc Collin)

Both this song and the scenes in the videos are taken from one of my favorite films of last year, The Shock of the Future. A tribute to the women who helped to create electronic music, The Shock of the Future is a rather inspiring film and it can currently be viewed on Tubi. So, go watch it!

But watch the music video first.

Enjoy!
