You did it!

You survived 2018!

2018 was a year when humans everywhere proved that they should just be quiet and let cats run the planet.  Well, 2018 is over now.  It’s 2019 and hopefully, everyone will try to do better over the upcoming 12 months!

Here’s what we have to look forward to in 2019:  The Oscars.  The release of Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman.  Another Star Wars film.  The Cannes Film Festival.  Terminator 6.  Zombieland Too.  Another season of The Walking DeadIt: Chapter Two.  Captain Marvel.  Avengers: Endgame.  Spider-Man: Far From Home and Toy Story 4.  Mike Posner’s A Real Good Kid and Outer Peace from Toro y Moi.   A lot of original films on Lifetime and a chance to see if SyFy will ever have another franchise as successful as Sharknado.  Stephen King will probably release another 900-page novel about Maine. And, of course, so much more!

On top of all that, In 11 more months, this site will be ten years old!  Can you believe it!?

So, sit back and enjoy the ride.

2019 has arrived!

(Click here to check out last week’s week in review)

Merry Christmas and a Happy Treevenge to One and All!

Treevenge

It wouldn’t be a Christmas here at Through the Shattered Lens without our yearly viewing of that most Christmas-y of all Christmas films: Treevenge.

I wouldn’t be out of place to say that this is the greatest film ever developed, put on celluloid and released for the world to see. We here at Through the Shattered Lens always wait for Christmas morning to see if the Christmas trees will make an appearance on the site and, lo and behold, they haven’t missed a Christmas morning since 2009.

Treevenge is a film that is full of Chrstmas joy. From it’s nostalgic opening music to the joy of families and friends enjoying their Christmas Eve with their new, hand picked Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas, One and all!

Lisa’s Week In Review: 12/3/18 — 12/9/18

I was on vacation last week so I missed most of the controversy over Kevin Hart being the host of the Oscars for 24 hours.  My personal opinion — and this is one that I’ve had for a while — is that the Oscars don’t need a host.  The host is usually dead weight and usually spends too much time bragging about the same industry that refused to hold Harvey Weinstein accountable until it absolutely had no other choice but to do so.  Instead of a host, just have someone announce each presenter’s name and what award they’re going to present.

Happy Birthday, Arleigh!

A hushed silence has descended in the TSL Bunker, for today is a very special day.  Today is the day that we all wish a happy birthday to the man who makes this site possible, TSL co-founder and editor-in-chief, Arleigh Sandoc!

Happy birthday, Arleigh!  9 years ago, Arleigh started the process of bringing together the blogging team who, since 2009, have been reviewing movies, books, video games, pulp art, music, comic books, Lifetime movies, amusing twitter memes, and the occasional Super Bowl!  Happy birthday Arleigh!

What better way to celebrate Arleigh’s birthday than with some Death Metal cats?

And how about a song?
