I can’t lie, this cover made ma laugh. It’s from 1949. It probably made people laugh back then too.

  1. Now, now, a silly dust jacket I admit. But, as Farnol was one of my mother’s favorite writers, I will attempt a brief defense, though not with swords. Along with Georgette Heyer, he is credited with the creation of the Regency Romance novels, was an influence on writers as diverse as Jack Vance and Norman Mailer and was an accomplished fencer. He does have some of his novels available with covers far more thrilling.
