Artist Profile: William George (1930– )


William George is an illustrator who began his career in the 1950s, studying under Norman Rockwell and painting covers for magazines like Argosy and Cavalier.  He also painted a countless number of paperback crime and westerns covers.  He remains active, with his work hanging in art galleries around the world and doing covers for Hard Case Crime.

    • Thank you for your interest Ralph. My Uncle passed away about 3 years ago now. He is truly missed. We were fortunate enough to care for him in his last years. The kids and I truly miss him.     • So sorry for the late response. Uncle Bill has passed away about 3 years ago. We are heartbroken and truly miss him. Thank you for attempting to reach out. His Legacy lives on.

    • Glad you are a fan. Uncle Bill was a true Gentleman. I was fortunate enough to look after him his last few years. Did my utmost best to give him happiness and peace in his life. My kids miss him dearly. You are missed Uncle Bill. Hang on to his Art, he was a great and passionate Artist! You do not find Artist like Uncle Bill anymore.

    I have a Bill George original oil from the Masters of the Universe era. It is from package art for a product called Fright Fighter (36×17) not sure if I am interested in selling as I have owned it for over 30 years. If you are interested I can email an image – but as I said not sure if it’s for sale.

  4. Glad you have a original of Bills. He is my Uncle Much loved and missed truly. I was fortunate to look after him in his last few years. The kids and I miss him Dearly. Hold that piece of art. Its not replaceable. Uncle Bill was a Legend and a true Gentleman. Rest in Peace.
