Here’s The Trailer For The Green Knight!

The trailer for The Green Knight dropped earlier today and what else can I say other than that it looks amazing! Dev Patel stars and visionary David Lowery directs. (Lowery previously directed my favorite film of 2017, A Ghost Story.)

Without further ado, here’s is the trailer:

Here’s The Trailer for Stillwater!

Stillwater is a film that I’ve been hearing about for a while. It was directed by Tom McCarthy, who previously did the Oscar-winning (if subsequently kind of forgotten) Spotlight and it stars Matt Damon as a man who tries to prove that his estranged daughter (Abigail Breslin) is not guilty of the murder for which she’s been convicted.

Originally, it was thought that Stillwater would be done in time for a late 2019 release but ultimately, it got a 2020 release date. But then pandemic occurred and everything got pushed back and, as a result, Stillwater is now set to be released on July 30th.

The trailer finally dropped today and …. well, its looks okay. To be honest, it kind of looks like one of those films that shows up, without much fanfare, on Netflix. But McCarthy’s strongest trait, as a director, has always been his ability to inspire and capture good performances and it looks like Matt Damon is very well-cast in the lead role. I’ve always felt that Matt Damon is one of those actors who is so consistently good that he gets taken granted.

Here’s The Trailer For Venom: Let There Be Carnage

The trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released earlier today. A lot of people on Twitter are really excited. Personally, I have no idea what to make of any of it. Apparently, this is not really an MCU film except that maybe it is. It’s like sitting in this sort of “Made in Association with Marvel” limbo. Who knows? The first Venom film drove my ADD crazy, though I should add that the film itself was liked by quite a few people here at the Shattered Lens.

Tom Hardy’s really cool. That’s the important thing, as far as I’m concerned. Tom Hardy is credited with coming up for the story for this film so hopefully, that means that the film’s plot will be kind of dark and cynical and odd and yet unexpectedly sweet and sentimental, like the Tom Hardy who regularly shows up in interviews. Regardless, it’s nice to see Tom Hardy taking ownership in the franchise. It reminds me of how Ryan Reynolds not only stars in the Deadpool films but obviously enjoys them as well.

Anyway, Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be released on September 24th. “Only in theaters!,” according to the trailer and I have to admit that I was happy to see those three words. Theaters need a shot in the arm.

Here’s The Final Trailer For A Quiet Place Part II!

After countless pandemic-related delays, A Quiet Place II will finally be released on May 28th. Here’s the final trailer, which was released yesterday. As you can tell, it appears that John Krasinski will at least briefly appear in the film, despite the death of his character at the end of the previous film. (It appears that Krasinski’s scene is a flashback to the beginning of the alien invasion.) Krasinski, of course, will also be returning to direct. Also returning to star in the film is my personal role model, Emily Blunt!

Here’s The Trailer For Georgetown

Georgetown, which is based on an actual Washington, D.C. murder, is one of those films that’s been out there for a while. Filming was completed in 2019 and it played at the Tribeca Film Festival that year. However, the film’s general release was held up by the both the pandemic and the fact that critics who saw it were fairly indifferent to it. Now, two years later, Georgetown will finally be getting a May 14th release before going to VOD a week later.

The main reason I’m curious about Georgetown is that it both stars and was directed by Christoph Waltz, an actor who sometimes seems to have kind of disappeared despite winning two Oscars and playing a Bond villain. Of course, Waltz hasn’t really disappeared. It’s just been a while since he appeared in a film that really captured the popular imagination. Along with Georgetown, he’ll be appearing in both The French Dispatch and No Time To Die in 2021.

Here’s the trailer for Georgetown, which co-stars Vanessa Redgrave and Annette Bening.

Here’s The Trailer for Occupation: Rainfall

To be absolutely honest with you, I kept waiting for this trailer for reveal the film to be a comedy. I think that was just my gut reaction to seeing Ken Jeong in a film about an alien invasion. But, actually, this film is not a parody. It’s a serious film about an alien invasion and it’s a sequel to the 2018 film, Occupation.

The film has already been released in Australia where it actually got pretty good reviews. It’ll be available here in the States in June.

Here’s The Trailer for Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.

Marvel’s continuing conquest of all forms of entertainment continue with the trailer for Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. This is an animated series that is going to air on Hulu. It’s about a super villain struggling with a mid-life crisis after his evil organization goes bankrupt and ends up getting sold to another evil organization. As much as I want to call him Gru, his name is apparently M.O.D.O.K.

Apparently, this series is not officially a part of the MCU but instead it takes place in some sort of parallel universe where everyone is animated and super villains sound like Patton Oswalt.

Anyway, the series drops on May 21st and here’s the trailer:

Here’s The Trailer For The Space Between

Today, along with the trailers for Shang-Chi and Annette, we also got the trailer for The Space Between as well.

In this film, a young record company employee is sent to try to get an eccentric and washed-up rock star to break his contract. The rock star is played by Kelsey Grammer, which is …. well, it’s interesting casting. Grammer can sing but he still doesn’t seem like the former rock star type. Then again, who would have thought that Grammer would have been perfectly cast as a gangster nicknamed The Rumble? Seriously, I dare anyone to say anything about Grammer’s performance in Money Plane.

Anyway, here’s the trailer for The Space Between. This film opens on April 23rd and will start streaming on June 15th.

Here’s The Trailer For Annette

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was not the only trailer to drop today!

There was also the trailer for Annette, an upcoming French musical that stars Marion Cotillard and Adam Driver! Annette is due to be the opening film at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. According to the film’s press kit, “The film tells the story of a provocative stand-up comedian (Adam Driver) and his wife, a world-famous soprano (Marion Cotillard). Their glamorous life takes an unexpected turn when their daughter Annette is born, a girl with a unique gift.”

So, there you go. A comedian. A soprano. And a girl with a unique gift. I’ll watch Cotillard and Driver in anything. Here’s the trailer!
