I shared this scene two years ago and then again last year but sometimes a scene is so great that you have to share it thrice. Here, to honor America, is Snoopy performing the National Anthem.
I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

As some of our regular readers undoubtedly know, I am involved in a few weekly watch parties. On Twitter, I host #FridayNightFlix every Friday and I co-host #ScarySocial on Saturday. On Mastodon, I am one of the five hosts of #MondayActionMovie! Every week, we get together. We watch a movie. We tweet our way through it.
Tonight, at 10 pm et, I will be hosting #FridayNightFlix! The movie? Secret Admirer!
If you want to join us this Friday, just hop onto twitter, start the movie at 10 pm et, and use the #FridayNightFlix hashtag! I’ll be there tweeting, probably while fireworks shake the windows of my office. It’s a friendly group and welcoming of newcomers so don’t be shy.
Secret Admirer is available on Prime and Tubi!
See you there!
It wasn’t difficult to pick today’s song of the day. Here is the National Anthem, performed not by the usual highly-paid celebrities but instead, by the class of 2012 at my old high school. I think they did a great job!
4 Shots From 4 Films is just what it says it is, 4 shots from 4 of our favorite films. As opposed to the reviews and recaps that we usually post, 4 Shots From 4 Films lets the visuals do the talking!
Today, along with celebrating Independence Day, we are also celebrating the birthday of the great British director, Pete Walker! Walker is 86 years old today and, if he’s not exactly a household name …. well, he definitely should be. In fact, if there’s any director from the 70s and the early 80s who is deserves to rediscovered and reappraised, it’s Pete Walker! He made exploitation films with wit and genuine suspense. Frightmare is one of the scariest movies that I’ve ever seen.
In honor of Pete Walker’s birthday, here are….

During the summer, from May to July, one of our local churches plants flags across the town and hangs ribbons on the street signs. It may not seem like much but it’s something that I look forward to every year. It’s reminder that we’re more than just a location. We’re a community.
Previous Moments:
With this being Independence Day weekend, it seems appropriate to take a moment and pay our respects to one of the first female super heroes of World War II, Miss Victory! In an age dominated by super-powered men, she was a woman who simply decided that she could better aid her country by wearing a costume and fighting its enemies. By day, she was Joan Wayne, a stenographer. But, when America’s enemies needed a good beat down, she became Miss Victory!

My wife and I recently enjoyed a little weekend getaway to Branson, MO. Branson is a little “tourist town” in the Ozark Mountains just across the Arkansas state line, and it’s a place I’ve been visiting my entire life. One of my favorite things to do there is to take in an evening dinner cruise and show on the Showboat Branson Belle. The weather was perfect on the night of our cruise, and after enjoying some time on the top deck, my wife snapped this picture on our way back into the boat. This picture means so many things to me… along with a beautiful sunset and a moment in our lives that felt so perfect, it also captures a flag that stands for something special, something that I could never adequately put into words. A little later that evening all of the veterans of the armed forces in the audience were asked to stand and be recognized for their service to our country. Looking at those men and women who were standing, I felt those same feelings I had felt earlier looking at the flag. I still don’t have the perfect words, but I do know that we’re blessed. Happy 4th of July, friends!
Happy Independence Day!
This is my favorite holiday, Today is a day when we think about the past, consider the present, and have hope for the future. America has been through a lot in its history. It’s been through a lot in just my lifetime! Some people like to get down on America but there’s no other country that I would rather live in. This is my country and I love it.
From the Shattered to Lens to you, have a safe and healthy 4th of July!

Every 4th of July, the neighborhood is full of flags. This is one of my favorites.
Happy Independence Day!
Enjoy!
