Music Video of the Day: Bring It On by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (2003, dir by John Hillcoat)

Today’s music video of the day comes from the one and only Nick Cave.  John Hillcoat, the director of this video later went on to direct films like The Road and Lawless.

Enjoy!

  2. Some online friends and I were joking last night about putting together a playlist for an ‘Apocalypse Dinner’ in light of the terrible things happening in Gaza and the potential for that disaster to escalate.

I always thought I would nominate ‘Bring it On’ as the last song to be played at my funeral service – as people are getting up from their chairs and filing out.’ I haven’t seen the clip since probably when Chris Bailey died last year, but I’ve watched it half a dozen times this morning, reflecting on how today’s PC warriors would take umbrage to the antics of the dancers and the irony of why that doesn’t matter if we were at the end of civilization (if ever it did matter, anyway).

Ironic that John Hillcoat went on to direct The Road.

Ironic also that – at least in comparison to the barbarity currently unfolding in Gaza – the video’s subject matter is a study in innocence.
