4 Shots From 4 Films: Special Martin Ritt Edition

4 Shots From 4 Films is just what it says it is, 4 shots from 4 of our favorite films. As opposed to the reviews and recaps that we usually post, 4 Shots From 4 Films lets the visuals do the talking!

On this day, 110 years ago, Martin Ritt was born in New York City.  Like many of the Hollywood directors who came to prominence in the 1950s, he started his directorial career in the theater before moving over to live TV.  In 1952, his television career was derailed when he was accused of being a communist.  Blacklisted, it would be five years before Ritt could get another directing job.  When he did start to work again, he moved from television into the movies, starting with 1957’s Edge of the City.  Perhaps due to his own experiences, his films always had a social conscience and always defended the individual against corrupt corporations and governments.  In 1976, he directed one of the first films about the Hollywood blacklist, The Front.

As a director, Ritt was known for his skill with actors.  More than anyone, he played a huge role in making stars out of both Paul Newman and Sally Field.  He was also one of the few directors to understand how to harness Richard Burton’s self-destructive tendencies and, as a result, Burton gave one of his best performances in Ritt’s adaptation of The Spy Who Came In From The Cold.

It’s time for….

Hottie of the Day: Alice Goodwin

ALICE GOODWIN

What better way to usher in Christmas Eve 2010 than by introducing the newest selection for “Hottie of the Day”. Our latest hottie is none other than UK glamour model Alice Goodwin.

Ms. Goodwin, like most glamour models in the UK, was discovered by talent scouts for one of Great Britain’s many tabloid newpapers. This time around it was a scout from the Daily Star who discovered Alice as she sunbathed on a beach in Bournemouth (coincidentally this was the very same beach where Daily Star model Lucy Pinder was discovered a few years earlier). She quickly made the Daily Star‘s roster of topless models and became a favorite of the paper’s readership. She has since expanded her modeling career by posing for other UK lad magazines such as Nuts, Zoo Weekly and Maxim. Alice has also released her very own pin-up calender her first two years as a model.

Alice Goodwin has become such a favorite with fans in Great Britain that she was voted hottest babe of 2009 in the UK edition of Maxim. With her career just starting to take off it shouldn’t be long before she joins past UK glamour models such as Lucy Pinder, Keeley Hazell and Rosie Jones in moving into videos and other branches of the entertainment media.

Hottie of the Day: Rosie Jones

ROSIE JONES

For our newest hottie of the day we travel from the Land of the Rising Sun over to the United Kingdom to meet the lovely Ms. Rosie Jones.

Ms.  Jones was born in July of 1990 in her hometown of Middlesex, UK. Rosie Jones is the latest in a long line of British Page 3 models who have gained quite the large fan following. Ms. Jones is still very young and still new to the game of glamour modeling over in the UK, but she has already been compared to past popular and successful British glamour models such as Keeley Hazell, Rhian Sugden and Lucy Pinder. Rosie has been busy modeling not just for the Sun as a Page 3 girl, but also for UK men’s magazines such as Loaded, Nuts and Front.

While her claim to fame is still her modeling work (most of which are topless) she’s got room to grow and her fast rising star in the glamour modeling world has many seeing her becoming one of the most sought after. It is more than likely that we will see her heavenly figure and natural beauty become more prevalent not just in the UK but in the US and the rest of the world.
