Music Video Of The Day: Modern Parenting by Creep Show (2018, dir by Chris Turner)

“Agck!”

That’s the best way that I can sum up my reaction to today’s music video of the day.  This video is for Creep Show’s Modern Parenting and it’s the type of video that makes you want to pick up the phone and call whoever it is that you should call when children are living in deserted buildings and destroying televisions.

That said, I like this video.  I like the atmosphere of that deserted building.  Being young, alone, and angry is both scary and exhilarating and this video captures that feeling.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Knights of Cydonia by Muse (2006, dir by Joseph Kahn)

What happens if you mash together every single European grindhouse film ever made and then get Muse to provide the soundtrack?

You end up with the video for Knights of Cydonia.

The fun here, of course, is identifying all of the films that are referenced in this video.  Obviously, there’s a lot of Sergio Leone there.  There’s also some karate action and a Planet of the Apes reference.  Whenever the cowboys shoot their laser guns, I’m reminded of one of Lucio Fulci’s post-apocalyptic films.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Move by Saint Motel (2016, dir by ????)

For today’s music video of the day, we have another video from one of my favorite groups, Saint Motel!

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes on your local newscast?  Chaos, apparently.

The satirical subtext and retro feel of this video will be familiar to anyone who has ever watched the video for Saint Motel’s My Type.

Music Video of the Day: Nimble Bastard by Incubus (2017, dir by James Larese)

Oh no!  A bunch of dogs have targeted Incubus for elimination!

However, what those dogs didn’t count on was the ability of Incubus to turn into a bunch of cats!

It’s a cute video, okay?  I love cats and I’m actually starting to get over my fear of dogs.

Music Video of the Day: Little Of Your Love by Haim (2017, dir by Paul Thomas Anderson)

(Sorry, everyone.  This is one of those videos where you going to have to click on “Watch on YouTube” to actually watch it.  I know.  That sucks.  Didn’t we fight a revolution and write a constitution to prevent stuff like this from happening?  Oh well.  Anyway…)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This fun little video from Haim features a lot of dancing and was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson!  Someday, Anderson needs to direct a feature-length musical.  Spielberg can produce that West Side Story remake if he wants but he needs to hire Anderson to direct it.

(Some may point out that it would have made more sense to have picked Anderson’s video for Haim’s Valentine for today’s music video of the day.  They would be right, except for the fact that the Valentine video lasts 14 minutes while this one is a brisk 3 minutes and 39 seconds.)

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Mardi Gras by Gita (2013, dir by Yonni Lapin)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can hear you already.

But Lisa, just because the song is called Mardi Gras that doesn’t mean that it’s about our Mardi Gras…

Okay, you got a point.  But here’s my point: today is Mardi Gras.  And this song is called Mardi Gras.  And I like it.  It’s a fun song to listen to while you’re stuck in traffic.

Besides, if you’re complaining about stuff like that today that means that you’re totally missing the point of Mardi Gras.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: New Orleans by Former Ghosts (2010, dir by Michael Fierstein)

Seeing as how tomorrow is, depending on where you live, either Fat or Shrove Tuesday, I decided why not share a music video about New Orleans?

It probably says something about the way I view the world that, whenever I see this video, I’m always expecting that it’s going to turn out that our group of friends is trying to cover up a murder or something.  The whole video gives off a “We accidentally killed a guy, let’s have a good time before we have to find a place to bury him,” vibe.  Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

This video was directed by Michael Fierstein.  Steven Andrew Garcia was the director of photography.

Enjoy!
