What a sad week!  On May 9th, Roger Corman passed away.  Earlier today, producer and film distributor Mark Damon also passed.  Corman and Damon were two men who revolutionized both the film industry and the way that movies were distributed in the pre-Streaming era.  Both of these men were famous for their Cannes deals and both passed away a few days before the opening of the 2024 Festival.

Closer to home, my Dad was in a car accident on Thursday morning.  He’s okay and the car survived as well but still, that’s not the type of call that you like to get at 4:30 in the morning.  I feel like I’ve been a little bit off my game ever since getting that call.

On a positive note, Cannes starts on Tuesday!  I can’t wait for the the news to start to coming in from France!

On Monday, I spent 20 minute staring straight at the sun.

Before anyone freaks out, there was actually a lot of cloud cover so my eyes were protected.  I mean, I don’t think my eyesight has gotten any noticeably worse over the last few days.  The important thing is that I got to watch the solar eclipse.  It was a beautiful moment, standing in my backyard as the afternoon suddenly went dark.  A few minutes later, I experienced the world lighting back up.  I’m glad I was able to witness it.

I want to wish a Happy Eclipse Day to all who plan to celebrate!  Supposedly, it’s going to be cloudy and rainy down here while the eclipse is going on.  That’s okay.  I’ve seen an eclipse before.  When I was six years old, I looked straight at an eclipse.  And now, I wear contact lenses.  Draw your own conclusions!

Happy Easter!  I spent this week with all of my sisters and I’m glad I did.  I’m now looking forward to the rest of the year!  Afterall, there are many more holidays to come.  And with March now over and the Oscars having finally been given out, I feel like I’m finally ready to leave 2023 behind and focus on 2024.
