The Exorcist should’ve never become a “franchise” in the first place. It was a brilliant film that did not deserve to be belittled.

What is so sad is that the original was a brilliantly executed horror film that unfolded over two hours in a way that built tension and suspense through the characters you got to know and care about – I don’t expect we will will get that here…even the “jump scares” in the trailer are so obvious and pointless to building any sort of suspense…I sincerely hope that people are motivated to seek out the original, which was nominated for Best Picture and deservedly so…

While I am admittedly adverse to remakes, I will acknowledge if someone gets it right – whether they bring something new t the story or in some way make a case for why it had to be done again – but they are so few and far between!
