It’s been way too long since we posted a new edition of Lisa Marie’s Favorite Grindhouse and Exploitation Film Trailers! Personally, I blame the Trailer Kitties. You know how they can be! But, earlier today, I sent them out and I told them to come back with 6 trailer for Halloween!
This is what they returned with!
1) Frankenstein (1931)
2) Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
3) Son of Frankenstein (1939)
4) Ghost of Frankenstein (1942)
5) Curse of Frankenstein (1957)
6) Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein (1973)
What do you think, Trailer Kitty?

That’s a talented trailer kitty!

I think my favorite film telling of Victor’s hijinks was a 70’s TV movie entitled “Frankenstein: The True Story”. (I’m pretty sure the story isn’t actually “true”. But I guess you never know…) It starred Michael Sarrazin, David McCallum, James Mason, and Jane Seymour, and was very well done – better than any cinematic effort I have seen, and also more faithful to Mary Shelley’s novel. Excellent performances all around, especially from Michael Sarrazin. I rarely see or hear any mention of it, and have not noticed it being rebroadcast for many years. It was a two-part TV broadcast, so it is fairly long – three hours or so. If you get the chance, it is worth a watch.
