I consider these the best and greatest science-fiction films of this closing decade. Some of the films in the list could be labeled as being hard scifi while some definitely have their roots in the pulp storytelling traditions of the 1950’s scifi publications and novels. Some could be considered horror while others more action or comedy. In the end, they all have a basis in the traditions of science-fiction as their common denominator. They will not be in any particular order since I couldn’t truly determine which one deserved to be top on the list or which was just 20th. In my eyes they are all equally great in their own way.

I feel ashamed not to have watched some of the movies on that list. Particularly the first 2.
Aside from the ones I haven’t watched. I can back you up on all films. A fine list.

Every title on the list is a must-see at least once. Of the indies I put in the list I think No.9 would be my favorite.

Tho War of the Worlds and Minority Report for me are easy to replace with movies like A.I, I Robot, Star Wars ep 2 and 3 (if they can be called sci-fi), Donnie Darko, the Man from Earth, Returner, the Road, Godzilla Final Wars, Equilibrium, the Mist, reign of fire. the Incredibles, batman/dark knight, watchmen, aso. And all those great Anime sci-fi movies like cowboy bebop the movie, metropolis, appleseed, animatrix and The girl who leapt through time, to name a few.
I guess it all boils down to personal preference 🙂 tho all of these are better than War of the Worlds and Minority Report in my opinion, im sure there are many more that others like better than my preferences 🙂

Yeah, I had to boil it down to 20 or it would’ve ended up being a list of 50. LOL. Your choices are titles I also enjoyed quite a bit. I actually had Equilibrium in my original draft of the list. I left out anime just for the fact that I’m working on a best of the decade anime list and I’m trying to not have titles pop up on too many lists.
The Road I was torn in leaving out since I loved the book, but I’m still not sure what to think about the film.
