I hope all my friends up north had a happy Canada Day!
Today’s music video of the day is the latest from The Hives. Play it loud.

This is from the end of my favorite musical biopic, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. It’s a beautiful ride, indeed.
Enjoy!
We’ll be coming into Los Angeles in another 12 hours or so. And then, it’ll be onto Dallas. It was a good vacation but I’m definitely ready to jump back into things. I have to say thank you to my fellow writers here at the Shattered Lens and especially my wonderful sister, the one and only Dazzling Erin Nicole, for keeping the site thriving while I was gone.
Here’s today’s song of the day. For the record, I will not be bringing in a couple of keys. I still love Arlo, though!
Today’s music video of the day is heaven in a box!
Geri Halliwell’s boyfriend doesn’t appreciate her so she drugs him and then brainwashes him. Whatever works! Her boyfriend is played by Aiden Turner, who also played Aiden Devane on All My Children. Aiden left the show in 2009 and it was canceled two years later. Coincidence? I think not.
Back in the day, Lisa and I would annoy the rest of our family by singing this song at the top of our lungs. The only part that we really knew was the part about bagging it up.
Enjoy!
From Mulholland Drive:
RIP, Rebekah Del Rio.
Back in 2002, I thought there was nothing cooler than Shakira replying to a question about crossing over to English-language music in Spanish. I still think it’s pretty cool. Shakira was one of the singers that Lisa and I always used to sing along with whenever we went on a road trip. We used to drive everyone crazy.
This was the last music video to be directed by the legendary photographer, Herb Ritts. He died of Pneumonia on December 2nd, 2002.
This song and video were both banned in Argentina because Shakira’s boyfriend (who appears as himself) was the son of a former president of Argentina who was not popular at the time.
Enjoy!
After all these years, Sarah McLachlan is still making beautiful music. Here is her latest music video for the title track of her upcoming album.
Enjoy!
Maybe if I catch my breath
Maybe if I wait a little
I’d remember how it hurts and stop before I fall
I’d forget to come apart
I’d catch myself and hold on tightly
Let memory wash over me, forgive but don’t forget
So you come back to me begging
“Why’d you leave? Tell me why, how you could you let this go?”
Let it be all it is
Small and still a memory like a stone
A jagged edge made smooth by time
Let it be all it is
Small and still and better left alone
Some things are better broken
Some things are better broken
Illusions come the venom stings
Swirling visions, soft and perfect
They blur all the edges ‘til everything looks fine
So I’ll pretend I didn’t cry and you pretend that you’re my savior
We both remember what we want – to get us through the night
So don’t come back to me begging
“Why’d you leave? Tell me why, how could you let this go?”
Let it be all it is
Small and still a memory like a stone
A jagged edge made smooth by time
Let it be all it is
Small and still and better left alone
Some things are better broken
Some things are better broken
Let it be all it is
Small and still a memory like a stone
A jagged edge made smooth by time
Let it be all it is
Small and still and better left alone
Some things are better broken
Some things are better broken
This song is from A Walk To Remember, which was Mandy Moore’s first big starring role. If you haven’t seen A Walk To Remember, Mandy Moore plays a girl who marries Shane West but then dies a year later.
I guess this video is a sequel because now Mandy Moore is singing to Shane West from Heaven while Shane watches old home movies of him and Mandy goofing off between filming their scenes. Shane uses a telescope and discovers that he can see Mandy in Heaven and Mandy looks really happy. Then Shane goes into the city and is reminded that his romance with Mandy was just a part of a movie. I don’t know if that’s a happy ending or not.
Enjoy!
