This book was originally published in 1957. It’s been reissued several times and is considered to be a classic of the crime genre. I’m not sure if the cover above is from the original 1957 printing or if it’s from a later date. I do know that the cover was done by an artist named Casey Jones.

Artwork of the Day: Backroad Motel (by Bernard Safran)
This book was published in 1954, back when there was nothing more scandalous than meeting up at a backroads motel. The artwork is by Bernard Safran.
Artwork of the Day: Forever

by Erin Nicole
I spotted this on a tree one day while I was exploring Lookout Park. It’s always stuck with me, that promise of “Forever” that’s sat there for who knows how many years. With summer coming to an end in just a few more days and 2021 also coming to a close, this just seemed like the right picture for the first day of September.
Artwork of the Day: Bed of Fear (Artist Unknown)
Artwork of the Day: No Nice Girl (by Jim Bentley)
Artwork of the Day: Big Beverage (by Lou Marchetti)
This is from 1953 and I guess it’s about a dangerous soda salesman. The cover is by the prolific Lou Marchetti.
Artwork of the Day: The Big Caper (by Barye Phillips)
This cover, featuring two people packing in a hurry, is from 1962. Barye Phillips is one of my favorite pulp artists. His work has been featured many times in the past on this site and will be featured many times in the future!
