Music Video of the Day: Mr. Cab Driver by Lenny Kravitz (1989, dir by Geoff Barish)

In today’s music video of the day, Lenny Kravitz has something to say to the racist cab drivers who controlled the streets in the days before Uber and Lyft.

Enjoy!

  1. I have to wonder about the point of this song. Lenny Kravitz is a multimillionaire, so he’s likely not taking the cab anywhere. Seems a bit mean to make a song that targets the lowest paid members of the working class.

Additionally, I’ve had plenty of cab drivers refuse to stop for me — and I have fair skin and blue eyes.

It doesn’t matter what colour Kravitz’s skin is, the problem is that it’s thin.

Kravitz has always struck me as a jerk, anyway. Never liked him since the controversy over the Public Enemy sample. Seems like Kravitz was (like he accuses cab drivers of doing) only thinking of himself. Money doesn’t buy class.
