Today, the Shattered Lens is in the business of wishing a happy birthday to Jermaine Clement, one half of the “Flight of the Conchords” musical group. And you know what that means… it’s BUSINESS TIME!
A friend of mine shared this song with me many years ago, and I still refer to it often. I just laughed my ass off watching this video again. Enjoy, my friends!
So happy to see a mention of this musical/comedy duo. For younger readers, the Concorde was a short-lived commercial plane, faster than the speed of sound, that wound up costing 20 to 30 times the original estimate. Safety and reliability issues, blah, blah, blah. Awful deadly crash just before Jemaine and Bret teamed up. So their name intended to evoke an unfortunate event, much like ‘Led Zeppelin’. I did enjoy their brief tv show, every episode included a guest appearance by a (then) unknown comedian who went on to much bigger things, Jim Gaffigan, Arj Barker, Todd Barry, like that. Thanks for the song, Brad!

Glad you enjoyed it, John! I hadn’t thought of the song in a bit, but after seeing Lisa’s post from earlier in the day, I couldn’t help but share the song. It’s given me plenty of smiles over the years.
