As Halloween comes to a close, so does both horror month here at the Shattered Lens and our series of televised horrors. What better way to finish out this feature than with one of the best known and most popular episodes of The Twilight Zone?
There’s a lot I could say about To Serve Man but really, all that needs to be acknowledged is that it’s a classic and features one of the best endings ever.
To Serve Man was written by Rod Serling and directed by Richard L. Bare. It originally aired on March 2nd, 1962.
Bon appetit!
It should be acknowledged that Damon Knight wrote the story that was adapted by Rod Serling for “The Twilight Zone”. I recommend “The Twilight Zone Companion” (including an episode guide–but make sure you watch the episodes before reading all about them!) for anybody who loves this series.
This is definitely one of the most popular episodes of the series, and I quite like it. If you enjoy “To Serve Man”, then you ought to check out “A Small Talent for War” from the 1980s version of “The Twilight Zone”. I remember watching “A Small Talent for War” when I was a child–just an amazing story.
