Music Video of the Day: Lost Track by HAIM (2022, dir by Paul Thomas Anderson)

Even before the release of Licorice Pizza, it was clear that Paul Thomas Anderson’s Haim videos constituted some of the best short films of the past decade.  They were the perfect collaboration between a group of artists.

I’ve always liked Haim because they remind me of me and my sisters.

Enjoy!

[Verse 1]
Tryin’ to get on top
But it’s never easy
Mastered my own luck
But it wasn’t easy
I’m tryin’ to feel alright
Around all these people
I try, but I’m just numb
This time

[Chorus]
Deepest cut that I can’t feel
Found a grip on the steering wheel
I know a piece’s stuck
You can sit down if you don’t mind me standin’ up (Mind me standin’ up)
I know I was too good to pass (Too good to pass)
So me and you caused a chain reaction (Chain reaction)
I’ll take the smallest crumb
But I’ll never get back what I lost track of

[Verse 2]
Laugh when I’m still cryin’
Yeah, you know the deal
Burn but it’s still fine (Huh)
Yeah, you know the deal
Can’t redeem my love
That’s such a steal
But you can’t say I’m not tryin’
This time

[Chorus]
Deepest cut that I can’t feel
Found a grip on the steering wheel
I know a piece’s stuck
You can sit down if you don’t mind me standin’ up (Mind me standin’ up)
I know I was too good to pass (Too good to pass)
So me and you caused a chain reaction (Chain reaction)
I’ll take the smallest crumb
But I’ll never get back what I lost track of
Oh, I’ll never get back what I lost track of
I’ll never get back what I lost track of
I’ll never get back what I lost track of

[Outro]
I’ll never get back what I lost track
I’ll never get back what I lost track
I’ll never get back what I lost track
I’ll never get back but I’ve lost track

Music Video of the Day: Little Of Your Love by Haim (2017, dir by Paul Thomas Anderson)

As we approach Valentine’s Day, this music video from Haim feels appropriate.  Back in the day, Paul Thomas Anderson directed video-after-video of the Haim sisters walking around Los Angeles and it was the greatest thing ever.

Enjoy!

Music Video Of The Day: Summer Girl by HAIM (2019, dir by Paul Thomas Anderson)

What happened to summer this year?  Seriously, it’s just kind of flying by.  We’ve got August and then the first half of September and then it’s going to be Autumn again!  Get out there and enjoy yourselves while you still can!

Today’s music video of the day is all about summer.  It captures a few essential truths.  Number one, it’s fun to get undressed in public.  Number two, if you take off enough clothes while walking down the street, some dude with a saxophone will undoubtedly start following you.  What I like about this video is how everyone is both intrigued and annoyed by the saxophone player.  This is a video that just captures what it’s like to be young and have your entire future ahead of you.  It also captures the feeling of summer!

(On a personal note, the Haim sisters remind me of the Bowman sisters, except we’re four and they’re three.)

This video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who apparently has directed a few films as well.  No, not the Resident Evil films.  That’s a different Paul Anderson, all together.

Enjoy!

Music Video Of The Day: All over me by HAIM (2025, dir by Ferina)

Today’s music video of the day is the latest Haim.  As I’ve said many times in the past, the Haim sisters have always reminded me of the Bowman sisters, which explains a lot about why I like their high-energy music videos.

I should also note that Will Poulter is in this video.  Hi, Will!

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Now I’m In It by Haim (2020, dir by Paul Thomas Anderson)

I definitely know the feeling.  I have yet to see a Haim video to which I can not relate.

This video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who did several videos for Haim and did such a good job with all of them that I personally think he might have a future in feature films.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: If I Could Change Your Mind by HAIM (2014, dir by Warren Fu)

Browsing through my YouTube recommendations, I was shocked to discover a Haim video that I hadn’t already shared for music video of the day.  Let’s correct that this morning!

This energetic video was choreographed by Fatima Robinson.

Enjoy!

Music Video of the Day: Don’t Save Me By Haim (2012, dir by Austin Peters)

Today’s music video of the day is one of the few Haim videos not to have been directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.  Austin Peters is the credited director.  He’s also directed videos for two of my other favorite artists, Dillon Francis and Major Lazer.

The Haim sisters could definitely defeat me in basketball.  Of course, I’ve never played basketball and, as I’ve mentioned in the past, I also can’t stand to watch basketball because of all the squeaky shoes.  One reason why I prefer golf and boxing to basketball is because there’s no squeaking involved in either of those sports.

Enjoy!
