On August 1st, 1981, MTV premiered.  Over the course of 24 hours, 166 unique music videos were played on MTV.  Yes, there was a time when the M actually did stand for music.

On that date, MTV played a lot of good bands.  They also played a lot of songs from REO Speedwagon.  The 39th video played on MTV that day was this performance-oriented video for Don’t Let Him Go by the Speedwagon.
