4 Shots From 4 Films: Special Sofia Coppola Edition

4 Shots From 4 Films is just what it says it is, 4 shots from 4 of our favorite films. As opposed to the reviews and recaps that we usually post, 4 Shots From 4 Films lets the visuals do the talking!

Today is the birthday of one of my favorite American directors, the one and only Sofia Coppola!  In honor of this day, here are….

  2. I really liked “The Virgin Suicides” but I LOVE LOVE LOVE “Marie Antoinette”. Have a copy on DVD.

Stunning visuals and Sofia’s choice of music (both contemporary and classic) brings the film into the modern world without sacrificing its time period. It is a “period piece” without being just a period piece.

Being as young as she was at the time Marie Antoineete became Queen I can certainly see where youthful immaturity stepped in from time to time. I mean, who WOULDN’T want to sit around with your BFF’s gobbling pastries and drinking champagne while shoe shopping. Heaven.

    And those gowns…sigh
