Hi. I may be on the road at the moment but I wouldn’t ever let that stop me from providing everyone with the latest edition of Lisa Marie’s favorite grindhouse and exploitation trailers.
1) The Evil That Men Do (1984)
I haven’t seen this film but I love Shakespeare.
Speaking of the evil that men do, this sexploitation film from Michael and Roberta Findlay is pretty rough even by today’s standards. Don’t watch this if you’re easily offended. If you are easily offended, just remember that ten years after making this film, Michael Findlay was decapitated by a rotating helicopter blade.
On a slightly less disturbing note, here’s the trailer for Moving Violation. The film is actually a bit more odd than you might guess from just the trailer.
4) The House By The Cemetery (1981)
From the great Lucio Fulci comes this film, the third part of The Beyond trilogy. This film gave me nightmares the first few times I saw it.
This is one of the most financially succesful films of all time and apparently, it extended the life of the Southern drive-in by a good decade or so. It’s actually a pretty good movie.
Finally, let’s end things how we started — with Charles Bronson killing people.
I just realized that this is the first time you’ve posted House by the Cemetery. Telefon is one of those Charles Bronson films I loved watching whenever I found it on the local channels on weekend nights.

I know, right? Can you believe it took me this long to include House By The Cemetery? I really need to write up a review of that film sometime soon. 🙂

I’m only familiar with the two Bronson films on this list. I have to admit that The House By the Cemetery is pretty creepy looking (that one knife slash to the throat looks a little too real). Moving Violation looks interesting, Stephen McHattie was doing movies that far back? 🙂 Yikes.

I would like to see “Moving “Violation. When I was kid, I had a bit of a crush on Kay Lenz and Kathleen Quinlan, two actresses who I thought were very good, but didn’t seem to get the right roles to enable them break out more. Quinlan later did, to some extent, but Kay never really seemed to. I haven’t heard anything about her for a long time.
I haven’t seen “House By The Cemetery”, but here is my pre-viewing anticipatory synopsis: ” WTF?! WTF?! WTF?! WTF?! WTF………??!! The End” I’m just kidding. Subtle as always, those do look like some entertaining kill scenes.

Moving VIolation was on FMC about a month and a half ago. I DVRed it and watched it then and it’s actually a pretty good example of the whole 60s smashing up cars genre. Like a lot of 70s film, it’s this odd combination of broad humor and rather grim drama. You’ll be happy to know that Kay Lenz is great in it. Stephen McHattie goes a little bit overboard with his performance and by little bit overboard, I mean “way overboard.” lol. But he and Lenz had an undeniable chemistry in the film.
Now, I do have one huge issue with the film which is that it claims — at one point — to be set in a town in North Texas but there’s all of these California mountains in the background. We don’t have mountains in north Texas. But, once you get over that, the scenery in this film is really pretty. That’s one of the things I love about these old drive-in movies is that they were so often shot on location in the type of small towns that don’t seem to be around anymore.
It’s out on DVD now (I believe I included the link in my post) as a double feature with another excellent drive-in film, Fighting Mad starring the one and only Peter Fonda. I recommend both films. 🙂
As for House By The Cemetery — lol, it’s actually a pretty interesting film and it seems to be the film that introduced a lot of people to Fulci. (Apparently, it used to show up on late night TV a lot.) It’s actually a very Lovecraftian slasher film and it has one amazingly odd scene in which the main character casually walks by her housekeeper and doesn’t comment on or even seem to be surprised by the fact that the housekeeper is mopping up a GIGANTIC pool of blood. Yep, it’s definitely a film from Fulciland. 🙂

I’ll definitely check out “Moving Violation”. It would nice to see Kay again.
Just to clarify – I’m not some obsessed, delusional fan. I’m simply a normal, mentally-healthy guy who enjoys film. If I could just make her understand that we were meant to be together. Why, Kay, why? Why won’t you return my calls? (sob) It’s just not fair! You shouldn’t be with him – you should be with me. (sob) Can’t you see? I’m the one who loves you, truly loves you! (sob sob) Does he have 11 tattoos of you? Did he sell all his possessions and move to CA and live in a tent just to be near you? (sob) Did he intercept all of your mail to make sure you weren’t communicating with the wrong people? Damn it, if that’s not love, I don’t know what is. If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right. (sob) And I was just kidding about a threesome with Kathleen (unless, of course, you would be into it.). Oh, Kay…Kay…Kay…(sob)…
