What If Lisa Marie Picked The Oscar Nominees…

With the Oscar nominations due to be announced this week, now is the time that the Shattered Lens indulges in a little something called, “What if Lisa had all the power.” Listed below are my personal Oscar nominations.  Please note that these are not the films that I necessarily think will be nominated.  The fact of the matter is that the many of them will not.  Instead, these are the films that would be nominated if I was solely responsible for deciding the nominees this year.  Winners are listed in bold.

You can check out my picks for 2010 by clicking here.

My picks for 2011 can be found here.

  1. Very nice list(s), I just have to point out that as a fanatic (and, fair enough, pedantic) follower of the “Before” films, that I think “Before Midnight” would be listed under best original, rather than adapted, screenplay, since it’s not adapted from any previously-existing work — heck, Hawke, Delpy, in Linklater in many ways make these films up as they go along.

  2. Very nice list.

I particularly like that you didn’t overreact to Gravity. It was my favourite film this year, but it wasn’t the best one in any way except one – unimaginably awesome visuals. Well, I guess I can imagine them. Now.

And you have Pacific Rim winning an award it richly deserves. This is important, and advances the sum of humanity.
